Too late :-) But in case it interests somebody (it was worth it for me) :

Can't you just uncheck the "last touched" box in the control bar draw resolution menu ?

X2 manual, page 468 "Use note duration value from last touched note" :

"When inserting new Note events, you can choose to always apply the note duration from the last touched Note event. To do so, select Last Touched in the Value control drop-down menu. Before inserting a new Note event, select an existing Note event that already uses the duration you want to apply to the new note, then insert the new note."

Don't be silly. It couldn't possibly be something that simple. Why, that would mean I have absolutely no brains whatsoever, to have missed that and actually posted the question

Wow, is that another meteorite in the sky? Look!

i used to loathe this setting,no i love it,just as long as you know what your touching,it makes inputting different values so much easier.

the thing that is really cool about that setting is it is also velocity sensitive.
so if you touch a note that is 95% on velocity, the next note you input will also be 95%

where it works best is with scoring out drum parts in the prv.
i have used both Step sequencer and PRV to score out my drums and the PRV is so much easier its not even funny.
when you figure out how to rightclick/lasso boxes of notes and drag them around,it puts Step sequencer in the dust.
unless your using a lot of swing values, thats where the SS excels IMO

While I can see a use for it, the problem it was giving me was when I had the draw duration set to, say, 16th notes, and I was dragging them out quite happily without having to press ALT to click the notes in. But if you accidentally drag a note further, say to an 1/8th note, the draw duration changes to that length and you have to go back in and change it.

    i totaly understand sharke.
    it has its uses.
i remember when i first used the new change from what x1 was like...i thought it was malfunctioning...lol
and was very frustrating, instantly turned it off but because it comes on by default im so lazy i kept it on.
now i never turn it off.as much can be said for zoom/snap as well.

    peace buddy
