How to do certain things in Sonar X1.. can't seem to figure them out!

Hello, I have been evaluating the trial version of Sonar X1 one for a few days, and have developed some questions while doing so. Unforfunately, I have come against a lot of bugs as well--I dont know if the trial version is still the original X1, or if updates have been patched onto the trial as well. Anywho, I did look at the 1850 page reference manual, but couldn't figure out the following:

1) How do I keep certain setting changes to remain after I close Sonar so that they reappear when I open the program up again? For example, I love the Aim Assist Line which can be activated by hitting the X key. However, it never shows up when I re-open Sonar. Any way to keep it permament? No biggie, just wondering...

2) How do I delete track(s) without having to right-click the track and click "delete track"? Is there a faster way? Clicking a track and hitting the delete key does not delete the track.

3) How do I delete a synth from the synth rack without having to click the drop-down arrow on the synth tab in the browser and click "delete synth"? Is there a faster way?

4) How do I set the default folder for my Media Browser, so that it shows that folder in the browser upon startup? I have one folder in my computer that I keep all my music stuff in, and I hate having to manually browse for that folder each time I start up Sonar...

5) Be unchecking "simultaneous vertical/horiz zoom" in zoom options, I can zoom horiz by alt+ctr+scroll, and vertically by alt+scroll. But when I alt+scroll, it vertically zooms only the one track that my mouse cursos is on. Any way to zoom the entire track view (all tracks equally) vertically using the mouse wheel? Again, no big deal if you can't...

6) Every time I switch headphones, or plug in my speakers--basically anytime something come in/out of my computer's audio jack--I get a pop-up saying:

"The above Audio/MIDI device was disconnected from your system. Would you like SONAR to reroute these outputs to an available device? Clicking 'No' allows SONAR to remember output settings to this device. Note: If playback is in progress, clicking 'Yes" will stop the transport."

Is there a way to keep that pop-up from coming up each time? I wish there was a "Don't ask me again" checkbox on that popup...

7) Is it possible to show busses and master bus in track view with the other tracks instead of in its own section on the bottom?
THANKS everyone in advance for your help!

Hi, Vault - I'll do a quick reply to some of those:

1-Aim Assist - you're right, it doesn't stay in place when you re-open a project that was using it.

2-Delete a track - using the default tool, as long as you have the selection tool that looks like + when it's being used, you can select a track from the center line down, and then use Delete on your keyboard.

3-To delete a synth, use the middle X button - it's the center one right under the main browser tabs.

4-If you've left the browser opened to your preferred location, that's what opens up next time.

5--zoom, not sure about.  I use WizMouse (free app) which makes all zooming so much easier and different than standard Windows zooming.

6--Disconnecting audio hardware from your computer, yes, Sonar has the pop-up about it being disconnected - it's been like that for a long time in Sonar - don't see what the problem is.

7--Buses only show in the lower section of the track view, as it's been in Sonar for some time.

    6. The notification about plugging/unplugging is triggered by your (onboard) sound card that detects those things. The driver then sends a message to Sonar about the "disconnect" or reconnect. Perhaps the onboard driver can be configured to disable auto detection, then it won't send that message and Sonar won't pop up. Try looking for a settings control under "Audio I/O" and "Analog".

    hi Vault..

the fact that Sonar does not operate in the way you expect, or want, or you cannot figure something out does not necessarily indicate there is a bug.. :). Personally, I always assume it is me that is the bug until someone enlightens me.. (and this is the only thing for which i am usually right about...lol)

The manual is extensive, complicated and incomplete.. so the forum luckily is a great backup source for "can I" , "how do I"  type questions...

    cheers..
