In SONAR-speak that's called a linked clone. You clone the MIDI track and check the "Link to Original Clip" option. The cloned track, rather than having its own MIDI events, will instead use those of its parent track. Any subsequent changes to the parent will automatically be reflected in the clone(s), because they're all actually sharing the same MIDI data.
This method is superior to simply driving multiple synths from one track because other than sharing the same MIDI data, the clone is an independent track with its own routing, channel number, transposition, automation, effects, etc.
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
