How to draw Slide/Portamento controller

I'm having trouble creating slide/Portamento between a pair of notes. There are a few controllers for this, but I don't know how to utilize them. The Sonar x3 Quick-Reference guide has instructions, but I'm not able to get it to work.

The notes in question are on a SoundCenter track.

Can anyone offer any assistance on how to get Portamento to work via these controllers? Thanks in advance. :)

First you need to be using a synth that is capable of producing portamento with a patch that's programmed to respond to the portamento controller. I don't know Sound Center's capabilities, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's not capable of producing portamento. You'll want to look into using Dim Pro, Rapture, Z3ta or one of the older Cakewalk synths that is actually programmable as opposed being just sample player.
