    That's not sounding good.

    Sounds like an installation problem.
A bloke on here has an installation guide.
    He'll probably post it shortly.

Inserting EzDrummer should show it loading.

Your description doesn't give a clear picture of what you are actually doing. Concentrate a little and be more elaborate.

What have you got on the midi track?

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

Using the method you are using - do all other soft synths open up with no problem?

And some specs may help - 32bit? 64 bit? Latest Ezdrummer?

Is sounds like the bit bridge issue with the 32 bit VSTi in 64 bit Sonar 8.5, but you say Sonar 8 so that should not be a issue? More information is required.

    Intel i7 3770K @4.4GHz, 32GB RAM, 240GB SSD System disk, 2 x 2TB and 1 x 1TB (with SSD Cache) HDD. Windows 10,  Sonar Platinum. Roland Quad Capture.

If it is, it can be easily remedied by installing the new 64 bit version of EZdrummer.  It is on the Toontrack site in your products page.
