How to post a song + photo on facebook timeline?

Just like Youtube, Facebook only accepts video on the wall posting. For mp3, it's only possible to send it via private / group message. For posting audio link on the wall, you still need to upload it first to SoundClound (typo edit: SoundCloud) , SoundClick, etc.

I personally prefer SoundCloud... It loogs great on Facebook, IMO

I have a song and a graphic file (JPG or GIF) that i want to post on my Facebook timeline. I can convert the mp3 to mp4, (which Facebook accepts), but I'm not sure if I can embed the graphic into the mp4 and instead of playing a video, simply show the picture while the song plays. I was wondering if Platinum can handle this, since it does have a youtube upload feature. I assume there are users here that have already figured out how to do this. If so please chime in

I think the simplest answer is to use something like Windows Movie Maker to create a video clip in MP4 format that is just a slideshow of the single graphic file you want to use for the duration of your song.

Great idea! I found a program that looks very good that seems to do the same thing, it's about $40 and will do far more than I want. Movie Maker will do what I want and more. Some songs i won't want to get into any involved video stuff just simply display the album cover and play the song.  It may be that SoundCloud is an even easier and quicker solution, if it doesn't involve being redirected to their website.

Embeds are being removed from facebook more and more because third parties are having trouble with them.
Youtube/soundcloud are about the same. Often after playing on youtube it will move onto another song later as well. No different from soundcloud.

The only place you would get comment in on Facebook in this scenario, (you can't really force the situation though, people can always force the situation to open up the app). Really if you want you song to be popular you need to use Soundcloud, YouTube or both. If you are planning on selling the song might be best to stick to youtube.
 
Please note "without going back and forth between 2 websites" you may consider this be simple in your scenario, but that's just how you feel. The people listening to your songs may have different scenarios. For me it's much easier if I go to the actual original website esp when I use my mobile phone etc, it seems to be more reliable. If somebody imposed that limitation on me I'd probably just move on... So consider everybody think different, I suggest you just (mostly) follow the defaults given to you like everybody else in your situation.

Ok this sounds good. So please confirm this. If someone visits my Facebook timeline, will they see the picture that I associated with the song from Soundcloud? And will they also see a play button to play the song?  And will it play without being redirected to the SoundCloud website? I assume I can also type in some background info on the song all in the same window with the song.

You should try it yourself and see what happens. When I tested it today (on your behalf), I linked to a Soundcloud song on Facebook and I did NOT get a player. It created a link back to the Soundcloud page where the song was. However, I was wrong about the image -- you can associate a picture with each song -- so maybe I was wrong about the player, too. It won't cost you anything to experiment. If you don't like the results you can quickly delete it from your Facebook page.

I ended up using Windows Movie Maker - cool program. I actually added several pictures and some text and stuff - pretty easy to use. Quick results. It looks great on Facebook

You can post to Facebook from SoundCloud by sharing the track. It will create a post with the image and a link to the SoundCloud page. Like the one one my page for A Call to War:

Users will need to click on the link and be transferred to SoundCloud to give a listen. You could also create a simple YouTube vid and then it could be played inline.

This was done using Windows Movie Maker a free download part of Windows Essentials. It's a pretty easy program to use. I imported a few extra pictures from my website and also added some text. What's really nice are the panning special effects that make it seem more like a movie than just static pictures. You can set the duration that each picture is on the screen.
 
Of course in your situation you'll may prefer the quicker easier method with SoundCloud, but if you ever want to get more involved try the Movie Maker
