How to print music

Hi.  I've recorded a song from my electric keyboard via midi/usb cable.

Shows up in Sonar X1 Producer fine.  I can add soft synths and play it back.  Can go to Staff View and add lyrics.

When I go to print it out, however, Page Setup is accessible, but Print and Print Preview are grayed out.

Is there something I need to do first with my midi clip before I can print the notes?  I've tried with and without Inserting a soft synth, and have tried bouncing to clip.

Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure why the menu is gray, but try pressing Ctrl+P.

Thanks for suggestion, but still not working.  CTRL P does bring up a print window with several options as to how to print, but when I say ok, nothing prints on my printer.

Any other suggestions on why my print and print preview are grayed out?  I'm on windows 7 64 bit system.

Thanks

Was hoping to get this figured out tonight.  Anyone know why my Print and Print Preview options would be grayed out / inaccessible and how to fix it?  Right now can't print any music from Staff view. (Windows 7, 64 bit system)

Thanks

Do you have the staff view floated? I understand that it wont print when floated. At least this was true in Sonar 8.5 I believe.

Thanks John.

Nope - don't have Staff view floated.  I'll try getting tech support tomorrow - seems like a bug maybe or problem with install on my system.  Manual makes it look simple and no reason for Print and Preview to be grayed out.

I know absolutely nothing about Sonar as yet but,
Is the printer otherwise ok?
Does Sonar "know" what and where it is?

Yes, that's the problem. You have Staff view floated or docked. If it's docked in the MultiDock, right-click its tab and choose Undock. If you still can't access printing, then click on the small icon in the upper left corner of the Staff view window and choose Disable Floating. Now you should be able to print.

Thanks Garrigus - you got it.  My problem was that the Staff view was Docked.  Undocking let me do all the print functions.

I love Babelfish - which translates this as: " did you exactly when he said? you must not berth the window, and incapacitate the flotation" LOL crappy translation no doubt, but I get the idea.
This would seem to be a bug if functionality is lost when staff view is docked or floating?

I can't get it working either. When staff view is not floating or docked I can't see the file menu, so I can't access print preview at all? I have never tried to print from staff view, so all new to me.

I just tried it in 8.5.3 and figured it out in a minute - but not X1 yet.

Hmm - finally got it to work for me. Even though I selected undock, I found that the window that I was looking at still said "Multidock". So I had a floating and maximised multidock. This will not permit printing.

I had the same problem when trying to print. Even though you dock the menu it might still be grayed out. In my case there was no print preview in the file menu. If this is the case,  go to  Options - Menu Editor, under Menu Items open &File. Click on Print and Print Preview. Than under Visibility choose Show. They will now be active. Save your new menu layout before closing.

I hope it is a little less confusing in X1b. Why on earth can't you print if staff view is floating or docked anyway? I'm sure there must be a good reason, but I can't think of one.
