How to record guitar from Fender Mustang III into Sonar X1

Hi guys,
I use a M-AUDIO Fast Track Pro connected to my laptop through USB

I have a Fender Mustang III amp with a USB port. I think I can not connect to the M-AUDIO  (the M-AUDIO has only 1 USB port connected to the Laptop, so I think it can not receive any USB in).

I think the Fender Mustang III amp can also connect to my Laptop in another USB port.
Can I get the sounds from the Mustang III into Sonar X1?
I mean, if I insert an Audio Track for my guitar, can I call the Mustang III as a line in through the USB?

I tried another option by connecting the phone/line out into my M-AUDIO line for instrument, and it work but it doesn't sound very well.

I guess that the if it is possible to record directly the USB from the fender amp into the Laptop it may sound better.

Any help will be appreciated.

Rgds,

Shaw

You are going to have to figure out if the M-Audio and Mustang III audio drivers can work at the same time.

The Mustang III may plug and play as class compliant, or it may require the Fender Fuse software package.

Follow the instructions for hooking up the Mustang III via USB and then see if you can use both that and the M-Audio at the same time.

You can forsake the M-audio when you use the Mustang III and use the Mustang III's XLR output to monitor the returns etc.

It is unlikely that you will get both drivers to work at the same time... so I imagine that is why Fender included all the extra stuff, like XLR outputs, on the guitar amp.

     best regards,
    mike

Skip the maudio if you are using the guitar amp usb.  It is there to go directly to the computer, I imagine.

Or better, skip the amp usb and use the maudio w/ a mic.

For proper guitar recording use a Shure sm57 microphone plug it direct to ..M-AUDIO Fast Track Pro.

USB connectivity for high-quality, low-latency audio output and interface with free Fender® FUSE™ PC application; Fender® FUSE™ application for on-screen parameter control, deep editing, unlimited preset storage, online patch swapping and easy firmware upgrades

This amp is on my wish list. I would try all the options to see which yeilds the best tone. First mike the speaker, second try the stereo XLR DI system and then try the USB connection.

There's little advantage to using the USB if you already have a interface as I am certain you'll have to swap one ASIO device for the other, This can cause havoc with Sonar as we all know all to well.
But I'm just guessing, There is a forum for the Fender Fuse software that I would join and find out from people already using it.

"There's little advantage to using the USB"

You already hinted at it... the software is, arguably, the coolest way to get at the controls in that amp.

    best regards,
