How to register DXI

All,

I had the Tassman DXI from my plasma days but no longer have the disk. I grabbed it off my old computer, but of course it doesn't show up. I know there is a trick to registering it (if that is the right word) but I forget how or even if it can be done. I'd like to have it availble - it is a nice synth.

Thanks,

@

    regsvr32.exe filename.dll

That command when run from a "dos" command prompt will cause Windows to register the dll file if this is what you mean (as opposed to registering a product online with the manufacturer?) so that a DXi host application should find it. Substitute the instruments dll file name for "filename.dll" above. You may need to specify the path if you're not in the current directory where the dll is located. Regsvr32.exe should already be in your system path.

Alan, go to TenCrazy.com here and check out the Windows Shell Extensions v1.0. It adds a couple of inf files that allow you to register or unregister DX and MIDI FX .dlls from your right-click menu in Windows Explorer. Those make short work of auditioning and rejecting demos and such, and I believe that it'll also work for you in your situation.

Registering the DXI is relatively easy.

The big challenge is that Tassman requires registration with AAS' site - it uses challenge-response copy protection, so you can't just move the DXI from one machine to another.

If it's Tassman 2.0, it can no longer be registered - they changed the copy protection method. You can use the 2.0 serial number to upgrade to Tassman 4.0 for $99, however.

    AT,

if you can splash the cash do it. Tassman 4 is the shiz compared to v2. Also, much more stable.

    have a good one

    Otter,

yea, I like the sound and it looks interesting. However, I don't know about spending anymore money for synths at the moment. I'm still fooling with Rapture and dimpro, not to mention some of the freebies out there that I've downloaded.

You know, I never had this problem with hardware - when a synth costs $1000 and more you tend to stick with it and get the most out of it. I know I haven't even scratched my latest softsynths abilities, but the grass always looks louder on the other side of the synth.

Anybody else have the tassman cheap synth?
