How to set the piano roll view to ALWAYS show the keyboard instead of numbers?
Okay that's it! This is a really tiny inconvenience but it really gets on my nerves to have to do it every time... When I right click on a MIDI track and enter the piano roll view in Sonar v8.0, what I see in place of the piano is numbers, so I have to right click the numbers and select "choose these note names instead" and then use the drop down menu to select diatonic, changing it to the piano, which is the only view I use. Is there any way to set the program so that it is always showing the piano instead of the numbers? It changes right back after I close the track's piano roll window, and I have to do it all over again. It becomes very annoying. Anyone?

Does this happen when you output the track to different soft synths?

Yes, this only happens in "Normal" project files and with the MIDI tracks associated with soft synths and rewired devices like Reason. However, when I am in just a MIDI file project it always shows the piano roll. Anyone have any insight as to why this is happening? Or a way to fix it?

Actually I just noticed it is only happening with Reason when it is rewired into Sonar 8.0, not with the soft synths, at least not with True Pianos.

I would like to know this also. And, How to get the little drum triangle note thingies to be like a piano note, so I can actually do something with it.

In order for that to happen, you need to insert a drum map into the track. This can be quite painful the first time you do it, but it becomes easier after you've inserted/written/modified your first dozen or so

I can open a MIDI track in prv, it shows the numbers, switch it to show the piano keys, do some editing, close the prv, do some other work in the project, go back and re-open the MIDI track I spoke of earlier and it's gone back to showing the numbers. Does it in new projects, old projects - it doesn't matter. I use the old style of instantiating a separate MIDI track, inserting a vsti by way of the drop-down menu rather than simple instrument tracks.

Yea. I've got hundreds of .wrk files from ProAudio days. And, they are the worst for translating to Sonar. Or, now that I think of it, maybe it's because I used outboard synths more back then, so the program thinks "drums". idunno. Anyway, getting the keyboard view is easy enough at least as long as the process is still somewhere in my mental ram.... It's the little stupid drum hit triangle things (as apposed to blobs) that I can't seem to change to blobs.
