How to undo everything that was added today ?

Sonar 4P :

Did something real stupid : I forgot an armed track (which had the MAIN as recording source, on the most important lead vocal track...)

So everything recorded this morning was remied every f.. time I was running and my lead vocal trcak now has about 75 re-re-re-recordings of anything on top of it.

Is there a way to UNDO everything that was recorded this morning (I don't care redoing all this, but please, not the lead vocal...

Thanks,

Rob

    Hi Rob-
my lead vocal trcak now has about 75 re-re-re-recordings of anything on top of it.

You should still be able to delete the additional recordings on the vocal track as long as you didn't use Bounce to Clips or Bounce to Tracks, since each take will have its own clip. P.S. Make sure Track Layers is on -- that'll make it much easier to see what you're doing.

Edit: Assuming you've alread closed the project and can't use the Undo History.

    HTH-

You could also check the Audio folder. Your original recordings (WAV files) - should still be there - you can check them by their date/time stamps.

Hopefully, you could then import them back into new tracks, and just dump the old ones.

    Good luck,

    Hi Geoff-

Yeah, that's more direct than deleting the 74 Rob doesn't need! I could've sworn I was awake when I replied!

    Thanks-

To avoid these problems, later, do a "Save as" to a new version (ie. V1a - V1b) as soon as you open your project. Then, after doing "something stupid" you can just close the project without saving, reopen the last save and you're right back where you started. HTH.

I agree! FL Studio has a shortcut to automatically create a new numbered version of the project, and I sometimes use it several times within the same session. Very handy! In SONAR you have to name it yourself, but that's no a big deal, and I recommend this highly, too.

    +1

For any of my active projects, I always have two concurrent versions residing in the project folder, one called "xxxxx.cwp" and once called "xxxxx_backup.cwp". This has saved my bacon on numerous occasions.

Thanks everyone. I was able to save the important track, and choosed to let the newest (easiest to redo) go.

    Rob

P.S. : As for the dfferent versions, I'd agreee, if it was not a matter of disk space... Just an idea for a next SONAR version : why not a warning message that another track is armed ? ... Especially if armed since a week... ;-)

You're really just saving the new .cwp with pointers to the audio, which takes up negligible disk space.

It's already there. Look at the bottom of the GUI. Anytime you mute, solo or arm a track, it will be indicated at the bottom of the GUI. Get into the habit of checking those before arming a new track and you're set to go. HTH.
