How to upgrade processor?

What steps are necessary when upgrading a processor?
Example: I want to upgrade an AMD A8-7600 to an A10-7870.
Can I simply install the new processor, boot up windows 10 and expect everything to find everything and work properly?
Or, do I need to re-install windows so it becomes aware of the new processor?
Anything else I'm missing?
Thanks.

EDIT: Background information. I put the A10 in and booted up and it works except the A10 is only running at 1.6 gHz.
It is supposed to be running at 4.1 gHz.
I have min and max processor speed set to 100% but the A10 is not seeing this. The old A8 worked at 100% (3.6 gHz) always.

The bios readme says that it does support Godivari which is what the A10 is.

Processor speed is pretty much determined by the motherboard. You may be able to find settings in the BIOS or UEFI that will help, but doubtful there is much you can do from Windows itself that will change processor clock speed. Some motherboards will support a chip type, but not support all members of that type or at the full speed. It may be that the installed BIOS is not recognizing the CPU code to set speed automatically and you might be able to set the clocks manually. You can check for a new version BIOS from the MB manufacturer as well, and your best answer will probably come from the MB tech support. Without knowing your MB specifics, advice here is just guessing.

A CPU is plug n play as long as the board supports it.  If your Windows 10 is an OEM license you will have to buy another license.

Thanks, guys. I do have the latest bios.
After reading your replies now I know that it is a motherboard issue.
The motherboard is a OEM board and the bios settings are unavailable. I will stick with the A8.
I could buy a new motherboard and new Windows 10 but the cost/performance factor is just not worth it.
The A10 is just a little faster than the A8 and I don't need/care about the integrated graphics improvement in the A10.
