John,
cool ,

I look foward to comming up with something to include some your slide playing.

mcourter,
thanks for listening ,
wow ....to most of them ....
...my page is more or less a record of my progress dealing with the DAW learning curve, and learnig how to express music in creative ways using what I have on hand ...the ideas, software ,the instruments.
many of my tunes have hit an ocasional high note here and there ( for a brief fleeting moment) , and they all seem to exibit an equal mesure of flaws...but I've enjoyed each and every one and have learned alot by just putting them out there.....
The guitar on A Tear....is the same one I used for Howling...Some Day...A Country Sh...
A Washburn D-17CE/WR...which I bought new for $ 535...in 95 or so...and today it's probaly worth less than half that...LOL sniff sniff...waaaahhhh .....LOL
( ahhh Shut Up and be thankfull kenny)....LOL

sandman5000,
well simple .... compared to something along the lines of Scott Joplin done on guitar or some of the classical peices a student would play...Fernando Sor ....Tarrega...Bach...

Marko ,
thanks, I got to look that poem up,
The Moon seems to be a symbol ...has that reflective quality to it
it reflects the sun and people often reflect on thier loved ones looking up at it..
where I live now ..I can look up at the Moon as I'm on the computer,
I have a tree line of tall Evergreens, and when the Moon is shining I get a good view to look up at as I'm doing my thing .

Randy, thank you ,

as small as my little song or mention of the dedication might be I thought to include them.....with the hope of tossing a small musical pebble into the Universe ..I chose to include ..in a thought ...and a song ..those brave souls ...and for the lonley here amonst us ...my self included.

Living breathing and trying to survive Hell on Earth while doing a job is hard enough
not knowing if Loved one's will ever be loved in person again is something else.....

Mitch ,
thank you for listening and the kind comment about my guitar playing,
I hope to get better at my guitar / music production .
I might have to ask around on how to fix the gating env...
thanks all

Hey Kenny,
That was really interesting. Did you play the instruments yourself? If yes, then I must say that you are great. Really, the tune was nice.

I can see a certain appeal to that, but as the sheep said,"soulless automation for those that don't give a..".
My Pinnacle video software has a function like this, but I always regarded as a toy. It's hard to believe it could be taken seriuosly as a big gun product.
Personally, I still prefer to do it the hard way. The machine generated algorythms will be in perfect time,
But they have no heart.

Actually, if you're working in the field of video production, these programs can be extremely useful to bang out a quick music bed for a 30-second spot, or whatever to exact time requirements. They're not intended for musicians.

Hi cute_lady,
thanks for the listen and kind words.
I played the instruments myself as is the case with most of my music,
usualy that is my defalt setting ,
in the case of a guest appearance by a musician ,
I usualy credit the brave soul..

Robert B , part of the reason I kinda ran with the Camp E.. joke is I like to have fun,
I was a little scarce around here and for a few weeks .
I had spent that time learning how to use The Cyclone, Velocity, DS8864, and a few other Goodies Cake had bundled with some of the programs that are on my machine.
Even went out and finaly got a keyboard stand ... my lap was not cutting it as a stand any more....LOL
Mapped all this stuff out , with loops / samples and grooves and sat here hitting keys to trigger every thing.. had a blast ,,,learned a few things and then decided to record an acoustic song..go figure..

Dave,
yeah , Human nature being what it is and all...
secretly my protestations are realy a cover up for the fact that I want to get one...of those things....
now I'm out of the guitar case...ehhmm closet..
Actualy the market you mention is one I have always wanted to explore...deeper.
someday I hope to explore the whole setting music to Video/ Film.
always have been interested in combing the two together ..haven't had the outlet or opportunity yet.

Kenny

Kenny,
Video is a blast. It's a whole 'nother learning curve, but I think you'd like it.
Dave has a good point, and I suppose software like this does indeed serve a purpose.
I appreciate the irony of camp E. Oddly enough, with all the electro-toys, you have inspired me to get going on my acoustic.

Grits is a two syllable word, pronounced: Grey-its.

No way. Satellite Beach. Moved there in '67
My dad was in the space program in the USAF.

Bought a house across the street from a piano teacher, on a dead end, next to about 1000 acres of swamp.

Lots of fun for an 11 year old. Snapping turtles, banana spiders, eastern diamond backs, copperheads, moccasins, coral snakes, black widows...
did I miss anything? Oh yeah. Gators, skeeters, chiggers and scorpions.
If my dad knew what I was doing in the swamp, he would have locked me in the house for my own safety.
I told him, but I don't think he believed me.

The swamp water glows at night time when you disturb it with a canoe paddle. Little eddies of green swirling glow.

West Palm is very similar. We had property there. It was pretty "glades" too.

Satellite Beach. We were stationed at Patrick in '71. I used to go body surfing after school. Saw Apollo 14 and 15 launch. Man, talk about db's, we were on the jetty on the canal at the south end of Cape Kennedy and those things were loud. Coolest thing I've ever seen.
I hated those da*n spiders. We used to saddle up the cockroaches, excuse me, Palmetto Beetles, and ride them to school.
Right on. Looking forward to hearing your track.

boy was I wrong in thinking I could go to Guitar Center, pick up a copy of HS and knock out a few acoustic tunes in a week or so ....had almost 2 years to think about that one.

Hi all ,
There is a updated version of Howling At The Moon...

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=427899&songID=4688002

I did the best I could to eliminate the anoying gate issue that many of you here alerted me to.
Some of the pauses felt a little long so I edited them in Samplitude .
I hope this is an improvement
thanks all
Kenny

Howdy, Kenny--Loved hearing this again. Sounds more than fine to me.

You know, drawing automation is really the better alternative to actual gating, because you can draw a curve down through the noise but leave a floor about 3/4 the way down, avoiding the unnatural sound of the track suddenly having No sound.

Why did you cut down the pauses in Samplitude when its easy to slice out sections in Cakewalk? Just curious.

This track should be snatched up by a film company for perfect "in the country" mood setting.

Hi Randy,
thanks ,
a while back I was exposed to a program called Sequoia and fell in love with it.
at 3 grand a pop it's usualy found in high end places like the BBC and studios that do classical / film / recording..
Samplitude is to Sequoia as Home Studio is to Sonar.
I have a light version and I have been learning it in my spare time as a hobby
My song only needed a few simple edits so I chose to just edit the exported Sonar wave file in Samp...out of lazyness..
Yeah , my little song in a film...I wish...

Randy ,i download your P...H... tune and look foward to giving it a listen ....

chasekh,
that was the plan at first.
originaly the duet git / blues harp was played together as an intro for a section that I was working on.
I wound up posting the acoustic duet , with out the middle section ....haven't been able to finish that section as of yet....
and wound up posting Howling.....as is for now

thanks all
Kenny

Very nice especially the Harp, In the very beginning it almost sounds like you are going to take off and play a part from "When you wish upon a Star" wierd thought I know. Simplicity I find as I get older is more and more appealing to me in music. I think the artist feelings come through much clearer than an "over produced" piece. Very cool man, thanks for sharing this with us.

Mr. Guitar,

Respect!!!

I feel something like what Claudia Cardinale must have felt when she met Charles Bronson in Once upon a Time in the West. This music creates a mood in me that I until now thought that only Sergio Leone was able to do.

studio1000,
thanks, my harp playing is a holdover from my teen years...
Some body would get a new guitar and the party was on...
some harp...seemed to work out better than 3 to 8 out of tune half drunk teenage guitar players

I love that tune, " When you wish upon a Star "
I have a transcripion of it here some where ...got to find it and learn how to play it...
Jazz guitarist Ulf Wakenius playes a version that is Great.
( soundclick.. all the music I can't post over there..cause of licensing)
Simplicity thats the ticket..I'm with you on that...I got a few acoustic tunes that I was recording that were doing just great untill I decided to add a 3 octave , rhubato 64th note Cadenza , that derailed the whole vibe of the song.
guitar sounds good when played in a simple fashion..
thanks for the kind words and listening.

RigPa,
Respect!!!
Back at You.

I did get to shake Chet Atkins hand once backstage at Carnige Hall ...
I was an usher there in the late 70's
I had to beg my boss there Rudy S... to turn a blind eye...
Stood there in my brown 2 inch platform shoes that I dyed black ..( dress code )
Had my tatered Carnige Hall ushers jacket rolled up under my arm..( I was on a mission)
Was breaking into a sweat while I was standing there ..
listening to all the BS about getting together for lunch...( the upper crust yapping)
When it was my turn..
Chet took one look at this pitifull sight me ..and reached out his hand to shake mine .
He sure lit up when I told him that I had seen him on the Ed Sullivan show when I was 6 years old, and started playing guitar soon after seeing him.
He was so gracious and kind to me for those few moments ...
Now that Man ...Chet Atkins is Mr Guitar...
I'll know I'm the 99 cent store version of a Mr Guitar when I walk into a Guitar Center and hear some guitar player playing something I did ....
thanks all
Kenny

Chet took one look at this pitifull sight me ..and reached out his hand to shake mine

He knew...

Hey Robert ...and all,
LOL....OK .....I'll say one thing ....
I can sure feel the Love around here ......

....Back at you.....a Thousand Fold.....

Telejazz is OK with me ,

but you all got me thinking

Ain't being a Mr Guitar and having a Mr Guitar moment...hmmm
more like comming up with something Memorable...
Along the lines of....
Stairway To Heaven
Voodo Child
Little Wing
Black Magic Woman
The Intro to Satisfaction...Smoke On The Water...Aqua Lung..Mississippi Queen.....
The Slide solo in My Sweet Lord or a little Stevie Ray......
Some Relling in The Years guitar solo action maby ?
Breezing with some George
Some heavy duty A chord like.... All Right Now........
Clapton, Beck Holdsworth, Wes, Tiny Grimes, Jimmy Ponder, Chet ...Pass....Segovia...Bream....Townsend...
I could go through the alpahbet and leave some one out....maby even your favorite...

To me Mr Guitar comes in many colors shapes and sizes...

I'll always have to remember that one size don't fit all..

Cause when the real Mister Guitar is in The House
He can hit some notes.. and play some GUITAR.........
That Even The UNBORN are Gonna Love when they Get Thier Groove On..

to all the future Mr Guitars of the Universe.......
Can I get an Amen..
This one goes out to you...

May the spark that Ignites
Burn Brightly and Illuminate all your Fret work

from a fellow Mr Guitar in training who hasn't quite earned his wings yet...

Kenny

Oh Yeah , Life is Good .
The internet is nothing more than a glorified real time cartoon we all star in.
I play a "Gibson " R 8 Les Paul Cherry Sunburst .
The Love of my Life is an American Bulldog Named Duke . I'm currently running Cakewalk By BandLab as my DAW .
