All comments both positive and negative are welcome.

I especially like comments that are critical of the song i.e. tracking, mix and mastering all of my songs are editable and I can upload and replace this version. Very little is written in stone. :)

Thanks for checking out my stuff.

I think you did a pretty good job with this. The harmonies are very well done. I might add a little shaker and maybe a tambo hit here and there, but that's about all I can think of.

Your songs are always good Rex and this is no no exception. I'm not crazy about that steel guitar tone, but that's a small quibble.

Not a style I am particular too, but sounds OK here, thanks for sharing.

Hello Billy, thanks for the listen! You are not alone in your dislike for the steel guitar. I have had a few fans complain about not liking it either. It is actually a lap steel and has that signature old Hawaiian sound. I wish I had a real pedal steel but I am not sure I would know the first thing about playing it, but I am a fast learner. If I use the lap steel again I will try and mess with the tone and make it a bit more appealing. If I go into this song and edit it soon (which I might) I will experiment with EQing the lap steel track. Thanks for your very constructive suggestion! I use lap steel a lot to give songs a bit of fluidity and I need to reexamine that use and try and give that tone a bit more warmth. :)

I will reedit this soon and add some shaker in spots and tambo hits too. Thank you Dan, my songs are often bare of those elements and I should think more about using them. My Intel I9 computer is down for the moment, USB slots decided to stop detecting on the motherboard and I had to send it in to the manufacturer, it has been nearly a month and still no email on the repair progress. My laptop is pretty useless for editing so I must bear the grueling and agonizing wait 'til my motherboard is fixed or replaced.

I will update this thread with any new tracking and mixes. :)

I liked the song Rex, and I liked the mix - it sounded modern country to me.  Well done

    Nice song Rex.
Instrumentation reminds me of a nearly seventies song like 'Everybody's Talkin' by Nilsson

I like steel (lap or otherwise) Rex. I'm a huge Speedy West / Jimmy Bryant fan.

Not my genre of choice but this sounds very well crafted. Recording and mixing sound top notch and nothing really jumps out at me. Nice job.

First comment - vocal harmonies sound really good!

Good country song, and I think the overall mix works for it, though the side-stick gets a little lost here and there.     As for the lap steel...  maybe try rolling off some hi-mids and adding a little reverb?  More like a pedal steel coming through an amp w/ reverb.
