I Crashed the uncrashable Studio One 2 (Fixed, but what a palava)
I decided to test the demo of Studio One 2, and guess what, its crashed so bad it won't even load. I admit 100% user error and proof of the adage "Those who design things to be totally foolproof underestimate the ingenuity of total fools" All was fine untilI added my VST folders. I made a fatal error and miss directed it to the top layer of the Program Files (X86), Now when open it crashes after a few minuets of "Preparing VST 2.4" I assume what I need to do is find out how to change the VST directories without opening the program. Any Ideas?

I made a fatal error and miss directed it to the top layer of the Program Files (X86), I did this and had no problems other than a bunch of errors. So, I undid that and carried on. Since you no doubt created a restore point before installing S1, just uninstall, restore and start over.

I did this and had no problems other than a bunch of errors. So, I undid that and carried on.
Since you no doubt created a restore point before installing S1, just uninstall, restore and start over.
Are you on 32 or 64 bit. I am wondering if its 32 bit plugs causing the crash.

Well, I tried the restore point and got a BSOD during the process, so I tried a regular uninstall, reinstall but that did not fix the problem.
One thing I have noticed is each time I run it I am getting an increasing amount of "Ignored because it crashed before" messages and it takes longer and longer to before it crashes. It's been scanning for 50 minuits now. I am hoping it will start so I can at least change the VST folders and hopefully fix the problem.

I didn't have any crashes but that could be because I am running the x64 version. I credit my success to the fact that for some reason, the 32 bit Synth Edit based freebie VST softsyths did not show up in my choices. Only 64 bit synths show up. I think some of my 32 bit audio plugs showed up but I wouldn't bet on my assumptions.

I probably should have said I am running this on a laptop, not my DAW, Windows 7 64 bit, 64 bit version of S1 The problem is now resolved after starting the program around a dozen times, letting it crash, after each crash one more item (never a real VST) was added to the ignore list. Eventually it started. I then removed the Programs Files (X86) directory from the scan paths. next time it ran the ignores were not listed. A simple user error took a long time to sort out. if the restore point had worked it would have probably been fine in this case but not if I had made the error after the program had been installed for a while. I wonder if there is a way to start S1 in safe mode to bypass the scan in such a situation?
