I Had a Notion
I grabbed the Presonus offer to get Notion for $70. I have no idea what it does, just that I can use it to generate charts from midi input and it was cheap. Not sure what the gigs of samples are for but I hope to get into midi guitar recording. Did I waste $70? Don't know, but it fills the hole in Sonar.

I use Notion on a regular basis. The samples are of the London Symphony Orchestra. You can set Notion up to play back audio of the score as it plays. Check YouTube for tutorial videos. Notion is a very nice package indeed. It also has ReWire capability, although it doesn't work in 64 bit Sonar. It has a very steep learning curve. I do like it a lot. Go to notionmusic.com for all the details. The YouTube videos are a must. Well worth the money! Just don't get overwhelmed by all the features and the learning curve.
Sonar Platinum, Sonar X3e, Sonar X2a , Sonar X1 Expanded and 8.5.3 (32 and 64 bit), Windows 10 on a Toshiba P75-A7200 Laptop with i7 @ 2.4 quad and 8 gigs of RAM and secondary WD 1 Tb drive, Windows 10 desktop, Asus i5 @ 3.2 quad, 12 gigs RAM, 1 Tb drive, 1 500 gig drive, MOTU 24io, 2 Roland Studio Captures, Saffire 6 USB for laptop, Soundtracs Topaz Project 8 mixer, Alesis Monitor 2s, Event BAS 20/20s, Roland Micro-Monitor BA-8s, and 45 years worth of collecting FX, Mics, Amps, Guitars, and Keyboards!

It works fine for me with Sonar 64 bit. Do you have Notion 4 and have it installed as 64bit?

I have Notion 4 64 bit, but haven't tried it from withing Sonar and will likely use it stand alone. Something new on my reading list.

I'm sorry! I stand corrected! It does work in 64 bit. I got so used to Notion 3 32 bit not working in 64 that I responded with it not working. Yes, I do have 64 bit Notion and it does work. Over a period of time I stopped using it with Sonar and use it on it's own. Hence, the wrong response. With it allowing me to access the LSO and all my VSTs it is just much easier to use it by itself for score use.

I agree. Rewire is cumbersome. If Notion or Sibelius would send MIDI back to the host with rewire it would be quite usable. That way you could set up all your sounds in the host as usual and when you orchestration is finished just record all the MIDI back into the host. It' possible with Rewire but no one has implemented it.

Sidroe Maybe in X4? LOL
It would have to be implemented in the notation software.

My reply was a reference to some notation software company somewhere cutting a deal with Cake to incorporate their program into Sonar. We all know how terrible the notation is in Cakewalk products. Though, I have grown quite fond of Notion over time.

Notion is a pretty cool app that was designed from the ground up with real time playback as a priority. The problem was that the company didn't have the resources to develop it properly. I really hope this changes with Presonus.
