I Have Crackling Sounds in TH2 for Sonar X2

I just recently upgraded Sonar X1 to X2. I have been messing around with TH2. I have the X2 Producer version of TH2 which is only an FX plugin. When I try using it I get a crackling sound intermittenly. It isn't because of a broken chord or a bad connection. Here is my connection :  guitar plugged into Line 6 Toneport UX2 (this is my audio interface), the Toneport is plagged into my computer via USB. In order to use my audio interface I have to open Gearbox software as a separate window outside of Sonar X2. Is that normal with all audio interfaces? Anyway, from the Gearbox program I set it to bypass (this bypasses all the line 6 amp models and guitar FX). I then set the track that I am using the TH2 FX plugin in to input echo so I can hear the TH2 models live. But every so often there is a crackling sound. It can be heard live and in the recording during play back. Can anyone help me with fixing this crackling issue?
As well, does anyone know if if TH2 full version can be used as a VST instrument plugin instead of an FX plugin?
Thanks.

Are you running with a driver mode of ASIO?

What is your sampling rate in the interface?
What is your sample rate in Sonar?

What is the ASIO buffer size in the interface settings?

    What are your system specs?

Please provide the above so that we can better help you,

If its not your sound card driver settings, then you could be clipping your signal

I have a USB out put level setting on my GNX4…

I can set the signal just below clipping (indicated by a
level meter on the interface) if I exceed that I get that
clipping sound through playback and onto a recording.

If your interface has some kind of control for the USB
signal I would try to lower that

I get crackling sounds when the processor is pressed to its limits. To resolve, I reduced the samples in the files or the bit depth of the recording. For example. When I record at 24 bit 88.2 I sometimes have problems with TH2. I never have problems at 44.1.

See Properties > Audio > Device Settings

    AND

Properties > File > Audio Data (This defaults to 32 bit with my X2 install which was more than my system could reasonably handle). I reduced Record and Render Bit Depths to 24.

Reviving this old thread, I also have crackling when using TH2. Here's the situation: guitar track recorded with Garritan JABB. I have compared inserting Guitar Rig 4 and TH2. GR4 works smoothly without any audio glitches. TH2 generates crackles, pops, static, etc. If I freeze the track, the glitches go away. Because freezing the track eliminates the glitches, I'm guessing that TH2 is pushing my processor to its limits. This is very annoying, because I'm not running many tracks (about two dozen) with only a few plug-ins. I've got an AMD quad-core Phenom II x4 945 with 16 gigs RAM, which has been adequate for all other DAW purposes--as long as I don't run TH2. This leads me to the conclusion that TH2 is hogging memory or CPU cycles. I've got an M-Audio 2496 soundcard, current drivers, ASIO mode. I run Windows 7 64-bit and Sonar X2a. I've got Zone Alarm as my anti-virus/firewall, and I turn off the anti-virus module when I use Sonar. Is anyone else having good or bad experiences with TH2?

One day, when I have the time, I will learn how to use all the features of Cakewalk 2.0. Oh, wait, Sonar 8.5. What did you say? Sonar version what?

dsurkin, just raise your ASIO buffer or WDM slider some and your issue will fix itself, unless your clipping the signal. Your currnet driver settings combined with your PC cannot handle it, so raise the buffers or latency slider. Its an easy fix.

CJays: Sounds like a good idea. I'll try it, but I'm a little worried about latency when I record MIDI tracks. I'll report back after trying a few different settings.
