I am so thankful for everyone who has listened and commented and offered suggestions to make this better. I've just updated a new mix that includes some beautiful, tasteful strings by Janet that just add soo much to this recording. Thank you Janet!!!

I missed this the first time around when you posted it.

Excellent recording.

Thanks,

Bub.

Hi Dave, I like the new mix, strings are nice and subtle and don't overpower the song. Good job by Janet.

Greetings, Rik

Nicely done.  Not my favorite Tomlin song, but well done.

I think you did a great job mixing this, Dave.  But you know me and mixing... :)

But, most importantly, it passed the Rik test.  Yay!  :)

Simple and soft, dont know the original, but I like this a lot. I would like a little more build on the chorus,a lower harmony would help that and a little extra vol in the string. But this is just taste.Cool.

I would think about adding a very transparent compressor to the vocal, as there are a few words that were hard to make out from time to time.  And an ever-so-slight bit of pitch correction.

But man, that is one long song!

A very enjoyable listen indeed. Nice acoustic vibe and a clean mix. Sounds great in the cans (ATH M50). Nice job on the guitar tone Dave. Kudos also to Janet for a very appropriate and supportive string part. You've all done very well. Bravo!

'Don't know the original ... and I'm not great at critt-ing covers. But I've always loved your stuff.

My 6 y/o daughter has crept in to listen for 3 minutes.

Vox pitch corrections are necessary in the 1st half (easy fix).

Despite sweetest performances and mix, I detect some of the hyper-Hosanna-fied Assembly-of-God/Vinyard repetitions in this by the lead vox and lead acoustic guitarist: Like the ones that sing in church-bands with an overhead projector --haha!

IMHO (which is only for my crony ears): The groaning "Worthy is the Lamb", etc. ... amidst the strong acoustics and the excess length (5 minutes) would have deserved at least some hearty routy-praising primitive black gospel: funky grooves, cymbals, congos, claps, tambs, shouts, and/or cabasa, etc. to convince the gospel.

This mightily succeeds, methinks, as a perfect emulation of the Vinyard CCM genre.  But my soul much prefers your last song with your non-pop humanized guitar.
