If the OP recorded separate tracks for drum kit, all the r-mix stuff might be overkill. simple low or high pass filters using track eq and maybe a gate would produce great results.

Cool - The whole Melodyne and ARA thing is a big learning curve for me, and represents a big shift from the way I did things in Sonar past! But in a good way. I am now getting to a point where I feel I can even try using it at gigs running the background tracks side of things - maybe even also running vocals. I do have LIVE 9, but I have never bothered to really learn it so having Sonar 3 being as reliable as some folks are saying, is a happy coincidence, but I digress (sorry OP). Again Dub, thanks for taking the time to post the tips.

I'm still wrapping my brain around this ARA stuff too. I do have the "fortune" of having a son who makes great "beats" but has not quite grasped the technical aspects of things. Cleaning up his tracks is giving me a crash course on tools like this.

Ya I tried it with a kick track last night to no avail. I had to go back to using audiosnap, which is still kind of a process to make sure snare flams and rolls are processed correctly. The easiest way I've found to get transients cleanly triggered for sampling with my own personal library is to use something like Trigger or Drumagog, and then use audiosnap on that.

Noel Borthwick [Cakewalk] Some tips: - For the most control, ARAfy the clip first and then tweak the settings in melodyne before dragging the clip. In editor, this allows you to set the analysis mode (polyphonic/monophonic) the analysis threshold as well as the detection mode, percussion/melodic etc.
I had quick look at the blog Noel, but couldn't really see an answer.....can you please advise on how to "ARAfy" a track? Thanks PS: Someone also mentioned using Audiosnap - but I couldn't figure that method either..

Select Melodyne from the clip's Region FX right-click menu (or TV pulldown menu), or select a clip and use Ctrl+M.
