I am being brave by attempting to post this here - my first time

Yellow

Sort of a Red influenced thing. Not really a song since there aint no words.

Light, happy toon designed as background music for a mental institution.

Comments welcome. I have thin skin though.

I like your guitar work and the mix. I would like to hear one of those high powered vocalists carrying on in there. Seems to me you have the mixing process. Maybe a little louder on the percussion. Good work. I'm a first timer too! Good luck.

It works really well for that.

Sort of a B52's play Astrominie Dominie in a comic caper type thing. Fun stuff. I like all the 'Hawkwind' type synth noises going off. The drums sound a bit over squashed would be my only crit.

I reckon if I was gonna do a movie remake of the 'Hitch-hikers Guide' this would get you the job of scoring it.

Cool stuff. Good to hear ya posting here too.

See it wasn't that painful was it...

    wow
Funny you should mention Hitchhikers Guide.

I have stuff in progress that is part of the Rocktronicka concept of mine.
    Here is the shtick.

    IT is the 31st century.

Rocktronicka is a band - synths and loud guitars

They are not that good though.

They mostly do opening acts for 3rd rate has beens playing in small dive venues in the outer arms of the milky way galaxy, touring around in their beat up old pos space ship.

They are also not very smart

    But they have enthusiasm

And they have a manager who as it turns out, doubles as a spy. In fact, she gets most of their gigs lined up where she has spy work to do.

But the band doesn't know she is a spy.

Oh and she is having an affair with the lead guitar player (modeled after me of course) but she is torn by the way she is using them.

There is a terrorist plot going on at a lunar base off one of the moons of a planet where they are doing a series of shows. It is a secret plot, but the manager/spy knows about it
(This is in Some of us are waiting) - a toon still in its infancy stages, but self explanatory.

Yellow is the opening song - instrumental
We come in peace is the band's theme song.
    Now

If I had set the stage well, the music is supposed to have a cheesiness to it. The band is supposed to be cheesy. The lyrics are supposed to be cheesy (but there are none in Yellow).

Most people do not understand the concept. To me, it is sort of Spinal Tap meets Venus on the Half Shell meets Ishtar. Pretty obvious to me but I don't think I am explaining it well. So it must be too obscure.

    Oh well.

really cool song here...I dig the psycadelic vibe...guitars sound great! I think my only nit would be with the drums...hi hat sounds a little loud compared to the rest of the mix.. Great job, look forward to hearing more of your stuff!

Your song was good, actually. Imaginative. Couldn't pin it down at any moment exactly where it was gonna go. Fresh ideas.

Man, this is exactly what I think I would hear traveling in a beat up 'old chevy traveling through towns like Amarillo in the middle of summer, where the ladies really DO have blue hair at the HO JO on 20.

This is totally up my alley Spacey 'old boy. Thanks so much for sharing. I'd love to hear an old album of this, but then again, I'm an old skate punk.

On that token, it kind of reminds me a bit of a band called Agent Orange from back in the day. I saw them play with the Dead Kennedy's back in the 80's.

    Good times.

Yeah, it's funny because the OP has 1 post for his original music? But "many" posts on others music. Some other who've posted here have MANY posts on their own music? And VERY FEW posts on anyone else's music... I just find it an interesting and funny comparison. It's interesting... How some can post tunes over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over, requesting comment? And yet post so few comments on others (not mine, but any music). I just find it amusing... I won't name any names, you can draw your own conclusions :-) They are not that hard to draw? A 2 year old could draw them... :-) It's a puzzle, figure it out...

Some people like to keep score, some people are more concerned with making music. There are some who like to stir the pot, and some who like to leave well enough alone. There are some who are in between them all. I'm still puzzled. I never understood the scorekeeping thing. I guess I'll just stay concerned with making music.

I'm not sure where you got that info from SB, it's not posted? Unfortunate... My post says "nice one".

In fact, if you'll notice? I comment on "many" songs, by "many" posters. There are some, I won't name names(SPINDLEBOX!!??)... Who seem to only post on their own tunes? And there own posts?

Have you done a search on your own posts? To see how many you have done, and posted on? Vs. anything at all? By anyone else? I'm sure your count is pretty high :-) vs. your own posts? Surely you're not doing a 10:1, or 100:1 on your own stuff? You surely wouldn't do that and then attack someone else who posts regularly on other forum members songs? Surely you wouldn't do that? Would you? Surely you wouldn't do that...

Surely you're not just posting your own music again AND again? Over AND over? Without any consideration to anything else anyone else does? You would never do that? Would you?

I'm sure a search on your user name would not "prove" this? Would it? No!? No way! No How! Surely you are innocent? You are clearly being falsely accused? Right?

You are clearly one of, it not THE WORST offenders in this category!! LOL! I think the worst! But I could be wrong ;-) There are others, but YOU are right up there bud :-) And I believe if you're not "at the top" you are damn close :-) If you have a counter claim? Make it :-) It's a lie, because I give, and receive, I believe both are importnat, it is good to give? AND to recieve. Some (read YOU) belive it is good go receive? Stop me when I start lying...

But enjoy your self righteous indigenization!! IT'S KINDA CUTE :-) It has no basis in truth? Or facts? But hell, why would you cloud the issue with facts? LOL! Facts mean NOTHING to you :-) They are inconvenient! You will continue to post songs, and seek comments from others, and add "nothing" to the forum, unless you feel that your posts aren't getting the play you feel they should, in which case, you will comment here and there. Stop me when I start lying :-) P.S., I'm not lying..

Oh crap, did I actually say that to you worthlessbox? Or was I just thinking it? Maybe I was just thinking it? Like you just think that you contribute by commenting on things others do other than ASA? As Sick as you ARE?

Sorry, I didn't mean that in a bad way, I meant it in the best way possible! :-) Please take these coments as "constructive" and accept them in the best way possible! They are positive! And constructive! ASA! it All Sucks A$$!

This is pretty cool stuff, Maurice. mixed well, nice tone on the guitars. the reverse cymbal thing is kinda cool on this. nice work.

there's the synth sounds I was expecting from you! I know you've talked about your synths a lot - what did you use on this song?

My AKS. My Moog Voyager. Just noises.

I put my Roswell piece up which has like 4 synths - AKS, Voyager, Modcan, Xpander all on it. It is kinda noise but kinda cool too. I am a guitar player, not a keyboard player. I just love the sound of the synths.

Very, very nice! I like the dynamics as the guitar becomes more legato nice driving song!

Can't wait to hear what it sounds like with vocals on it - if that's in your plan.

I have never thought about lyrics in this, but now that is all I can think of. I need some inspiration. Maybe I should go back and watch Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. Bedebedebede Way To Go Buck!
