I am now on Windows Phone
It rocks!! Lumia 920. Its way cooler than I though it was going to be. Blazing fast. Interconnected to everything. I've tried for years to remove google from my life, and I think I have been as successful as anybody could be. Now with Nokia Maps, I only need google to sign in to a very old gmail account, where some of my software licenses are tied to. Other than that!! Hooray! I am totally as, "ungoogled," as I am going to get. Also!! Happy, I am out of Apples ecosystem as well. There's a company that hasn't been the same since its founder past.

Same here, I love my Windows phone way better than the eye-phone as we like to call them. LOL! I have great apps, most of the good ones are free and I just totally love all the stuff my phone can do. I have an HTC and love it! It never drops calls, is easy to use and is darned near as powerful as my laptop. Good luck with yours...enjoy! -Danny

Well, over the 2/3 years I had an iphone, I never used any of these apps I spent money on. I learned very quickly, I was buying a $0.99 here, and a $4.99 there and they were getting no use. My most used iphones apps in proper order: Facebook, Google Maps, LinkedIn, Twitter. Everything else I did with free apps, "jotting down notes, or checking the weather, or world clock; accessing my cloud accounts like soundcloud, box, etc." Everything else was reading emails, sending texts, talking, a little facetime, and using the safari browser. So, I wasn't so deep into these apps, that it actually was a huge concern when I decided to switch platforms. What annoyed me most, was that my iphone kept freezing on calls. it didn't drop them per se, as the connection still existed, but it would cut out a lot. It became impossible to talk on, and I suppose it may have been broken, and I could have fixed that issue by upgrading to a new model of the iphone, but apple failed to entice me with their current offering. Also, I was in an apple store today, because switching platforms is, "kinda a big deal," and I looked at an iphone 5 before I went with the Nokia, and I found the apple store, and the people working in there, and shopping in there, to be really weird... In an, "I've done too much acid in a former life," kind of way. However, switching phones, not so easy. I'm having trouble setting up my yahoo mail, and I've given up for the evening, and I've got to make some calls about that tomorrow. Yep, windows phone is a little naked in the app department. But the operating system is way cool. and the phone is fast, although this nokia is a little bulky, like the reviews say. I've got a good mind to think that in another two years, windows phone is really going to be slamming and apple and google are really going to be feeling the pressure. We will see.

Rather than starting a new fred.. and seeing as how this fred is actually still on page 1 anyways.. I thought I'd take a moment, and mention how cool I thought Live Tiles were. Live Tiles are so cool. They are like living in coolness.

I must admit, when I put a new bit of kit in our data rack, (server, network switch, etc,) the first thing I look for is the quality of the flashing lights. Must have flashing lights... flashing lights...

New Windows Phone user, too. It seems to work pretty good, even tho I was starting to get along w/ android. But went to the store to figure out something, and it was time to update the phone (in the US many phone plans allow you to upgrade the phone for practically free every two years). So here I am. I hope I'm happy - I'm getting too old to continue to figure out OSs. @

Windows Phone is a big checkmate on cr-Apple and people don't even realize it. In IOS, you open and close applications, in Windows Phone you keeps apps open and flip between. I don't know what the story will be with IOS 7 but on Windows Phone all your apps are live and running on your home screen. The thing is.. There definitely exists a 48 - 72 hour period where you are just like, "wtf," with the new operating system. You do get over it. The other thing is: Its going to be very hard for most people to switch OS'. People don't switch like that so easily. They fear they will loose all their contacts, and all the apps they bought, and all kinds of stuff. For us music producers its different... We are techy sort of people. We can, "cross gadget," for lack of a better phrase. I knew Windows Phone was so hot and cool, and so wanted to check it out. I'm really blown away, I keep thinking, "Microsoft came up with this? They've been working on this for years." They had this all thought out, for years in advance. We'll see if it catches on. I hope so.. I'd like to see the future of Windows Phone. From here it looks like, "sky's the limit."
