Too old? Only if you are an octogenarian, otherwise you soldier on (and on and on and on) like the rest of us seasoned programmers LOL.

Can you give us some insight into the hardware/system specs you are running please? A lot of "issues" tend to boil down to drivers, hardware, and setup options, so please take a moment to let us know how you are set up.

#1 - Does the transport stop, or just the recording?
#2 - Are you using punch properties for recording or not?
#3 - Is there any audio beyond 4:10?
#4 - what record mode are you using?

and as requested, your system specs as well as a project setup would help.

It sounds to me like you have a record region set somehow. Do you see any red flags in the timeline around 4:10?

Do you notice the record arm button disengaging in the track you are trying to record on or the transport record button going off?

You probably have Auto Punch enabled @4:10. This is why it stops recording there.

Not nice to talk about a significant other like that.

    BTW, I have that enabled.

I am going for a little dip in the Jacuzzi and starting over!  And no, auto punch is not engaged.  That problem went away so now it is just hearing the playback on new tracks...Cheers and thanks, Jeff

If your recording and you are recording all the previous tracks on your new track, then your recording input is set wrong and you are probably setting it what you hear.

As you have an Asus based system, make sure you either completely remove Asus Ai Suite, or disable it during your Sonar sessions.  It REALLY screws with audio.  You can disable it temporarily (until you next reboot) by finding the icon in the system tray, right-clicking, and choosing to exit.
