I can't upgrade and I don't know why
I am a CW subscriber. I run the command center "update" command. It downloads the update but the sonar I launch is not updated. Do I need to do something additional to force an update? Does it put the final somewhere else? Thanks.

Did it go through the setup routine?

It went through set up for the help and other files. I'm not sure about sonar itself. I don't think it went through set up. How to force this? Is there a file somewhere to double-click?

What colour is your Sonar icon showing in the CCC? What version does the CCC say you are running? What happens if you select "Launch" from the CCC?

Bristol Jonesey probably has it. The "Update All" pick updates all under Sonar, but not the program itself. Click on Sonar and then update.

Sometimes it tells me it could not update SONAR on the 1st try. I usually have to do it a second time before it succeeds. Maybe it gave the OP the same error but he didn't notice. There is no dialog showing the error, just the orange bar at the bottom shows the error. It's easy to miss.

Still not luck. Sonar platinum icon is yellow, which I presume means it needs updating. I download. I click the update button. It says "applying updates." Then I get an error message in the bottom orange bar: "Your installation of Sonar Platinum 22.5.0.45 did not complete. Click here to continue." I click there. It goes back to "checking for updates" then goes to the main update screen. I click update and the whole cycle starts all over again. ??????

Try signing out of command center and signing back in.

Oh, I did that. I shut down the computer and restarted. All I get is the same cycle, over and over. It appears as if I have downloaded the update. Can I find it somewhere and double click on it?

The gear icon in command center has the path where your downloads are stored.

Ahhh.....the file is indeed there, but it won't run from there. I get a message "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." Same message if I try to run it under administrative mode.

That means its a permissions thing with that folder (which is weird). Hopefully someone with more knowledge can help. I will suggest to try both running the program "As Administrator" and running it form an administrator account (they are two different things.)

Well, I copied the file to the desktop to see whether it was folder permissions, but got the same error. Not sure how to run as an administrator, as it doesn't show up when I go to "windows-switch user."

Hold Shift while right-clicking on the installer/exe/shortcut. Select "Run as administrator".

Hold Shift? I've only ever right-clicked the .exe and then chosen Run As Administrator

I did all that. The original poster indicated that running as administrator was different from running in administrator mode (?).

Ah sorry, missed that you already tried that. In that case I don't know what the answer is.
