I cannot for the life of me get the Piano Roll note to snap to whole, quarter, half? ???

I remember when cakewalk was a cakewalk! I am finding a lot of functions just not working?
Dragging notes in the Piano roll is already a nightmare as it draws the new locations so slowly (5 seconds or more)
The snap to function when dragging notes just does not work! I test the magnetic strength in the setup options and its fine but the Piano Roll edit window just ignores it???

So far I'm not impressed!

There is a separate Snap button for the PRV in the top right hand corner - it looks like a checkered box - click it to enable it, right click it for snap options.

Try this. If it doesn't work, let us know.

    Great username btw!

It doesn't for me. Last night I put it on 1/16 (in the PRV), I watched it change to 1/4, 1/8, even a whole note. FastBikerBoy said that I probably had the "smart grid" on. I still haven't figured out how to turn it off, though. Here was his post from my thread: http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2704086

Yeah, that will make things less predictable

Karl explains quite well how to switch off Smart Grid. I've got mine switched off because I want to control my Snap resolution at all times

    I found this too:
    http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation/default.aspx?Doc=SONAR%20X2&Lang=EN&Req=Arranging.28.html

It says: To change the snap options
    1. In the Control Bar’s Snap module, select one or more of the following resolution options:
list-image Time resolution. Snap to the selected musical or absolute time resolution. Click and hold the mouse button pressed to select a different duration from the pop-up menu. For absolute time resolutions (samples, frames, seconds), type the desired number of units. When Smart Grid is selected, the snap resolution is dynamically determined by the horizontal zoom level, and the M:B:T time rulers in the Clips pane and Piano Roll view are optimized to show relevant snap locations.
*Note: To exit Smart Grid mode, clear the Smart Grid check mark. If you manually select a new resolution while Smart Grid is enabled, the new settings only apply until the focused view's zoom level changes
    .

I was looking for the smart grid in the PRV. I now see it's in the control bar's snap settings. I'll have to turn it off right away cause, sorry to say, I really do not like it.

Cheers guys! I managed to turn it off! Control N and then disable all the landmarks and you're left with a good old fashioned "You're in control don't think for me Mr Computer" worl flow!!!

Thanks so much! Just need to figure why this drag and drop is slow at rendering! It seems to disappear after a few first attempts, all very weird lol!
