I can't see my Audio or MIDI Hardware in Music Creator

Several things may cause this problem:

By default Music Creator shows only the audio cards on your system that have WDM drivers installed. Follow the steps to enable Music Creator to access all of the audio drivers on your system.

Start Music Creator click Options | Audio | Advanced Tab and select "Always Use MME..." Close Music Creator and restart. You should now see all MME audio devices.
Enabling this option will force the WDM driver to go through the slower MME interface. If you use only WDM driver devices, leave this option unchecked for optimum performance (lower latency).

Music Creator's AUD.INI file may have become corrupted.
Easy Fix - Close Music Creator and delete the AUD.INI file from the Music Creator folder. After restarting Music Creator you may need to point the app to your WaveData folder. (Options | Audio | Advanced Tab | Data Directory field)

Advanced Fix - Close Music Creator. Open Music Creator's AUD.INI file in Notepad. Delete everything listed beneath the line PictureDir=C:\Cakewalk Projects\Picture Cache
Save the file and restart Music Creator.

What type of audio track are you trying to import? (i.e. wav, mp3, wmp)? are you trying to use the import feature or are you just trying to OPEN using the FILE>OPEN selection?

I am using File->Import on an audio track. It used to work all the time on every other machine I have had.

You still didn't tell me what type of audio file. Anyway - just use OPEN FILE, but then you'll need to save it as a CWP instead of wav or mp3 or whatever you were opening.

It won't import any kind of files mp3 or wav.

I can't save as cwp because open file does not recognize mp3 or wav.

I don't understand why it won't import, it just hangs there.

you keep saying IMPORT are you still trying to use the FILE>IMPORT as you stated above, or have you tried using FILE>OPEN as I suggested?

File -> Import because File -> Open won't open mp3 or wav files, only cakewalk files.

Maybe I should just re-install Cakewalk Nusic Creator.

ok, I stand corrected. you do need to use the import to open mp3 or wav. sorry.

if MC is 'hanging up' when you try to import them, then I don't know how to fix the problem. reinstalling would be a good start, then i'd call tech support.
