I'm still running Firefox 3.6.

Thanks Bub. I used the link you posted a while back and disabled automatic updates and everything has been perfect! I use this browser for this forum and have it as my homepage... works for me.

For what it's worth, my FF just updated to 12.  I logged into CH and it didn't seem to make any difference.  I did not do any extensive testing though.

Testing 1 2 3 {hmmm, still no CRLF... huh, wonder if anyone under 30 even knows what a carriage return is} maybe after a reboot (on FF 12 btw)

I think people have gone to earlier versions of FF, moved to a different browser, or gave up trying.

I went with the second option.  I still use FF sometimes for not-Cake stuff.

it's even worse on Android phones (in the default browser), for some reason html tags don't render either so you have to work through [ img ] [/ img ] etc etc...

Oh, well.

It's our beloved forum software and not FF.  Some suggested using the brk enclosed in <> to accomplish your breaks.  I had mixed results with that.  Sometimes it would work, most of the time it didn't.  No sure why.  By that time, I'd lost interest in investigating and moved on.

Has anyone ever bothered to determine exactly what the problem is?

And I don't mean "It's the forum SW!" or "It's your browser!". I mean the nitty gritty technical details of exactly what newer versions FF are sending or not parsing properly vs. the other browsers that work?

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

There are a few explanations from Willy and/or Brandon.  They are working on it.  I thought we'd have a sticky about it by now.  Maybe there's one on another forum.  If I remember correctly, the ASPPlayground software has been customized to keep compatibility with the older messages and threads.  It's not as simple as doing an update.

I did a quick search.  I didn't find the message I was looking for, but I found this.  It's an older thread.  Look for the second post by CakeAlexS.  It's about halfway.  Sorry, I don't have time to look for the more recent thread that I recall.

But that's still superficial from my point of view. I'm curious if anyone knows exactly what code is getting lost/not sent/misinterpreted from a programmer's perspective for those who use FF.

I've never found being or not being a dingbat has had anything to with my doing something wrong.

Does that make me a bad person?

I imagine that someone knows.  Just none of us dingbats!  The more recent post may have had a little more detail, but not the kind of stuff you're looking for.  I'll take another look when I get a chance.  That may take a while, though.
