I can't type hard returns anymore...???

Since a few days I can't type hard returns anymore on this forum...! What's up? My posts look like a mess now with everything in one paragraph... Example: I want the next sentence on the next line so I'll type a hard return now (two times Enter). See??? It doesn't work! What's up here? (No, I'm not kidding: this is serious! I want my posts to be neat and tidy with clear paragraphs and right now I can only posts single big paragraphs that are unpleasant to read imho...)

    I'll guess at Firefox 6...

If so hellogoodbye you will need to roll back to an earlier version of FF or use another browser here.

    I'm still running Firefox 3.6.

Chrome won't allow me to indent, IE8 and forward removes all the reply options (smiley's, Insert picture, font, font size etc etc) and Firefox 4 and above won't allow me to use certain add-on's that I really like. FF 3.6 serves me very well for my limited web browsing.

I'm getting the same behavior in Firefox 6. I have to manually add "br" tags to my posts in order to send hard returns. Does this issue affect all forums (and web forms) or just this one?

IE will do that if you don't have it on 100% view.  not sure if that's what the problem is for you or not, but I know that always causes that problem.

I was using FF and the update broke our cherished forum software.  For other reasons, I wound up switching to another PC.  My IE 8 seemed to work OK before it automatically updated to IE 9.  I must remember to turn off that auto-update nonsense!  Now it's kind of broken, too.  Not as bad as FF, though.

Yes, Firefox 6 here! Thanks for the tip...! I installed the latest version when I installed my new pc... So now I need to find an older version... hope old versions are sill available for download...? It's very odd, though...

I am typing in Safari on a Mac now. Look at those hard returns!

    Aren't

    they

    beautiful???

    EDIT
BTW I also already wondered where the icons for formatting my posts were, like Bold and Italic and colors and adding pictures... All that is completely gone in FF6! Very odd...

I allowed the FF 6 upgrade and yep... it screwed up on this forum.

I tried to roll back... could not find FF5 so I am stuck at 6 until I can find it.

Unfortunatly, my lappy wants to update but I have to remember to click cancel every time.

So on this biz computer, I DL'ed Chrome. It works fine.  It has it's own little quirks but so far I'm good until FF7 comes out and the issue is returned to normal.... or is it the forum software?

Incidentally, I tried to post this message using Internet Explorer 9. It was not in full screen mode, yet I did not have any options to insert links etc., although it looks like the smileys are still available. Every time I try to post, I get an error message that cakewalk.com is not responding, and an attempt to recover the webpage usually succeeds with the message having been posted. But sometimes it just crashes the browser.

Ya know, I hate to sound like a tool ... but jeez, how many times does there have to be a post about this? No, there is no workaround, there never will be a workaround, here is the only thing you can do ... use Firefox 3.6.

The forums do not work properly here unless you use Firefox 3.6 (3.6.28 is the last update for 3.6).

It can be had here ... along with every other version of Firefox that has ever been released.

    ftp://archive.mozilla.org...a.org/firefox/releases

You can have more than one version of Firefox on your computer. Just remember to do a custom install and change the install directory name from default to something like, 'Firefox 3.6'.

Here's to hoping it won't matter what browser we use one day.

    Sweet!

Just curious though, does it work with FF12 or do you have to run it with that IE Tab thingy?

it's one of them add ons you download for FF 12 so, you just run it in a seperate tab. I have it saved so it opens as the home page along with a couple of other tabs in regular FF12 - it honestly works

So it's the add-on, not FF12 that makes it work ... that's pretty cool, weird, but cool.
