I can't use MIDI FX in Sonar X1 LE

Hello,

A few years ago I bought the Cakewalk UA-1G audio interface. A DVD with Cakewalk Sonar 8.5 LE was included. I never used it until a few months ago and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by its functionality. My 'official' DAW is Apple Logic Pro X, though I have created a Windows partition on my iMac and on it I installed Sonar version 8.5 LE.

Before I registered the software I e-mailed the customer service with the question if I could use the registration code with a newer version of Sonar LE. I recieved a reply with a download-link to Sonar X1 LE and the serial number and registration code. Now I have installed version X1 LE.

In version 8.5 I could use some MIDI-FX like an arpeggio creator, which is very handy to me because I use an external keyboard for my music creation. In version X1 LE the MIDI FX seem to be unavailable, because the menu remains greyed out no matter what I do. By exploring Program Files / Cakewalk I couldn't find the directory "Shared MIDI Plugins", which was the case with version 8.5. So what I did: I removed version X1 from Windows, installed version 8.5 again, copied and saved the specific directory and its files, de-installed 8.5, installed X1 again and pasted the directory "Shared MIDI Plugins" under Program Files / Cakewalk. I was hoping this would solve my problem. But no...

So my question is what I could next to get the MIDI FX working. Thank you!

I"m not familiar with the LE version of X1 so...this is just a guess, but I'd say install 8.5 LE and then install X1 LE without uninstalling 8.5 first. Various versions of SONAR can live side-by-side (I have several versions installed) and for all I know, uninstalling it de-registers the plug-ins or something...
