@tap... I like that you didn't pan the kick center. :-) That was a nice touch.

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

I learned not mixing it sounds better then mixing it.

Dan Gonzalez [Cakewalk]
Download this mix and mix the song in 30 minutes using only Sonitus FX. Tell me what you learned about yourself.

Maybe it's time to get Sonar Projects supported here... Peace..

I could not get this done in 30 min.  I didn't have a track template that really fit this project.  It was interning the way it flipped between the MIDI drums and the acoustic Kit. So I did this from ground zero.  I spent the first 30 min doing anal stuff, like using the cut tool to remove all the "dead air" spots.  I hate seeing continuous tracks on every channel.  I just like to see the clips layered, so I get a better visual representation on where stuff starts and stops.

I kept working past 30 min, just because I thought this was a really fun tune.  I did some gain staging and got a rough mix on the faders.  I started throwing some of the sonitus effects on the drums but never got that far before I decided to call it a night and go to bed.  I'm going to finish this at some point.

I downloaded the project and played with it for a half-hour, but didn't feel like what I did was very good. What it made me realize was that I really had no idea how to systematically approach the mixing process.

It made me wonder if any of you more experienced forum members could describe the process you would use for this - something that showed some ordered, step by step tasks that you would normally use to work the mix. I have used Cakewalk products for a long time (mostly poked at them audio-wise, or did bad midi realizations) and would like to kick up my usage several notches - I'd like to do my own CD worth of songs - and if I do that, I want them to be as good as I can.

I'll appreciate any help you might be able to send my way...
