I completed my synthesizer arrangement of The Planets

It's taken me almost a year, but I've finally finished my synthesizer arrangement of The Planets: http://soundcloud.com/mik.leghorn/sets/the-planets

For the time being, I'm offering free download (360kbps MP3).

For this project, I used Sonar X1 Studio 64-bit on an Asus i7 laptop with 12GB RAM. Synths used were Zebra, ACE, Diva, Tyrell, z3ta2, and Sylenth. I used Valhalla Room for reverb, and Uhbik for effects.

Now it's time to find a record label!

Very interesting, indeed.  I enjoy a challenge as much as the next person, but this takes it to a new level.

Do not have time to listen to the whole set, but from what I sampled, the instrumentation is impressive. A lot of work must have gone into this.  congrats.

Listened to my favourite track from the suite, Jupiter, and it sounds phenomenal. Great job of arranging and playing.

The concept reminds me of Tomita who did synthesiser arrangements of classical music back in the 70s and 80s.

    Cheers,
    Terry.

Epic work of musicianship and quite dynamic, could be bigger and a bit brighter with some capable mastering

Tony, I agree -- thanks for that suggestion. I did some mastering with EQ and a limiter, and uploaded the changes last night. If you get a chance, I'd appreciate it if you listen to a few samples and tell me if you think it sounds better. Hey, I listened to your music on Soundcloud -- very nice. I'm following :-)

Tomita did do a recording of The Planets ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZMYvk_N6Q8 ).  I remember listening to it with my dad on the weekends.  This brings back good memories.

I have that recording. I'm a big Tomita fan. I'm hoping that people consider my Planets to be an updated synth version. I've used technology that wasn't available to Tomita when he did the planets -- including Sonar X1, z3ta2, Zebra, ACE, Diva, and Valhalla Room.

wow. impressive. pretty far out. i'm at work so only had time to sneak in Mars Venus and Mercury.  the obvious comment is to send to George Lucas ;p
would also make a great laser light show audio at a planetarium

Lots of great stuff going on in each piece. This had to be a blast to put together. Very interesting sound and instrumentation. The production work is just great. Very nicely done on all of them. Peace be with you. Blessings, John
