    1. Sonar (originally an acronym for sound navigation and ranging) is a technique that uses sound propagation (usually underwater) to navigate, communicate with or detect other vessels. There are two kinds of sonar. Can you name them?

    2. The world's first patent for an underwater echo ranging device was filed at the British Patent Office by what English meteorologist?

    3. During World War I the need to detect submarines prompted more research into the use of sound. The British made early use of underwater hydrophones, while what French physicist, working with a Russian émigré electrical engineer, Constantin Chilowski, worked on the development of active sound devices for detecting submarines in 1915 using quartz?

Soundtweaker, To detect, seek out, and destroy those who would waste the time and talents of the all knowing Groundhog. Your consequence for this blastphemy is to listen to a single Tony Orlando album over and over for the entire day on Sunday. Do not violate the command of the groundhog.

    Oaf_Topik,

    active and passive.

While your intelligence is partially evident in your assertion of knowledge, there are actually three types of Sonar.

The answer to your second question is Lewis Richardson... ahh the groundhog grows tired of these games.

My response to your third question is a question. Are you a drummer? It is time for you to go to rehab....... Paul Langevin.

Is there anyone out there who is not an idiot ( based on their questions) who can stump the Groundhog? This is a thread for Sonar Producer and Studio, not a magnet for homeless people who have nothing, and live a life of suffering due to their quests to be "musicians".

    Cornell university

    To MemphisJo,
Yes, this IS true. My cousin was involved in that quest as well. Unfortunately, people quickly lost interest as they are not overly appreciative of groundhog music.

    To Soundtweaker
The most prominent feature in Sonar 9 will include the Brandon Ryan frontal lobe headset with serotonin to midi converter...still have a few bugs to work out. Also, a new collection of sounds for Studio Drummer 3 using samples of trash and empty beer cans, and of course, the Proteus Don Ho Ukulele collection.

    To Murman:

Now for your question: Why does a track have only one output? It depends on what you step in.

    To Fog,
My sources in China and Africa indicate kevin was involved in the study of gene expression profiles related to transcriptional mechanisms and their relation to natural selection. Personally, I think the Darwin Award authors are on the right track.

I see your 100th birthday is coming up in December. Would you like a diet coke and a donut wrapped in a box with a red bow? Or would you like it wrapped in aluminum foil with a green bow? Trinkets of value, as goes the saying, are not to be trifled with. Word.

I have a burning question about SONAR.

Is it deliberately or accidentally an anagram of ARSON?

    Supplementary question ....

    What is an anagram?

This is a great idea - a place you can ask questions about ARSON - surprised nobody else thought of it.

Dear Mr. Hog: I'm sure this won't stump you, but, being in the pest control industry, I'm naturally curious: While groundhogs have a vast range, from which country are they indigenous? Also, would you better recommend chlorphacinone or diphacinone to eliminate a population (assuming strychnine is not available?)
