I did something very weird today...

I bought a plugin out of NEED, not out of IMPULSE or DESIRE.

I bought Waves InPhase to correct some phasing I have on some overhead tracks. Who-da-thunk-it? Buying a plugin solely because it's useful in a given situation?

Well, that's relatively new to me! ;)

I did something similar a few days ago, James.  I bought Valhalla Vintage Verb because I was finishing a mix and just couldn't get what I wanted out of my existing verbs.  Loving the VV right now.

No need to make it public. You're both out of order and I'm calling a meeting of the general council. You're on gardening leave until further notice.

Why not just nudge the clips? Impulse and desire? :-)

Perceived Need is the less-flamboyant sibling to Impulse and Desire.

For me, Need usually turns out to be rationalization and/or self-deception. I really need FabFilter's multiband compressor! Well, no, technically I don't, no matter what yorolpal says. But convincing myself of the need makes me feel less manipulated and more in control.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Probably just inexperience! :) But I'm not sure that would do it as the phasing is on the cymbals and not so much the kick and snare. I'll post how it goes...

The band pass function does seem interesting.

A good habit to get into before making any purchase is to do your darndest to convince yourself that you don't really need it. It's surprising how often this results in the abortion of said purchase. I do it with everything. Like the other day, I was in Bed Bath and Beyond and found myself looking at kitchen towels. Hmm, I thought, maybe I should get some new ones, my old ones are looking a bit drab. I was seriously on the brink of purchasing a six pack of them. And then I turned the tables and swiftly convinced myself that I could do without them. Thanks to this technique, I've had the same mouse mat for 10 years. It's awesome.

Hmmm, dish towels or new plugin? I think I'll just wipe my hands on my pants.

Oh yeah. Like David Niven said hosting a category price ceremony in the Oscar gala, and a flasher ran across the stage: " Some people have a strange urge to present their shortcomings in public." :o)

Is that even an option? That is weird - never heard of that before!

I'll have to try that someday - especially now that I've purchased all the Plugins that I need.

But as stated above, I can 'GIVE UP anytime' - really - I can!   Haha.
