I don't know why I hate the name SPLAT so much
But I do. I even avoid visiting the Sonar Facebook group because of everyone incessantly calling it SPLAT.
Why do I hate this collection of letters so much?
JamesWindows 10, Sonar SPlat (64-bit), Intel i7-4930K, 32GB RAM, RME Babyface, AKAI MPK Mini, Roland A-800 Pro, Focusrite VRM Box, Komplete 10 Ultimate, 2012 American Telecaster!

Yeah, it's a properly ****e name that's for sure.
Whoever is responsible for this atrocity should be banned for life after spending a week in a solitary thread where any and all forms of verbal abuse are allowed.

Yeah , SONAR Platinum ...now peoples ! was that all that hard to say ? In my mind the name SPlat reminds me of this . slow moving traffic driving on the wrong side of the road  That didn't get out of the way  Kenny

Coined by Anderton but propogated by CakeAlex (and a bit maliciously IIRC).
I think it's a funny/cute/useful abbreviation though. I'm pleased with Platinum so when I use the term it's not meant to be derogatory. Just quicker to type, everyone knows what version you are referring to and it's kind of punk rock.
I like it.

It absolutely does which I guess is unfortunate from a marketing perspective but since when do Sonarites give a flying fart about what anyone else thinks about their tool of choice? And don't discount the power of "Screw the man-ism". Kind of like how those "Explicit Content" labels sold MORE records. It's almost like a badge of honor really. Then again it's quite possible I'm just a contrarian idiot. In fact... I'm pretty sure that's what it is. lol

I just had supper.
Since you just ate your supper I will kindly spare you the visual repeat ... Too much info in my book would mean the dude in the first pic on the scooter was only on the job his first few days . He was rather upset that after spending a week in college the only job he could get was as a scooter delivery boy for a Fresh Fish Mackerel company . His new delivery gig interfered terribly with his family life at home with his wife and 30 thousand little ones ... He was growing rather weary of coming home to a cold supper and his family already asleep and in bed . This frustrated him because his one and only aspiration and creative outlet was to become a music producer and he relied heavily on the feedback his family would give him as he played his music after dinner. One RUB he had was he detested having to wash his legs every night before he fired up his DAW . No matter what he did he could not wash the fish smell away . He absolutely preferred his computer keyboard to smell like $hit not fish .He also felt this aroma interfered with his creative process when he was working on his music and songs . He Loved to work late into the we early hours of the morning while using his DAW Platinum . As his luck played out it was his boss that had given him a new long distance delivery assignment and he was given a mackerel delivery route in Scotland . Since he wasn't used to driving his scooter on the correct side of the road in that country he met a rather gruesome untimely demise on the windshield of a passing motorist May he rest in Peace all the best, Kenny

Just plain old "Sonar" works for me, although I have to admit that I have referred to is as SPlat once or twice.

Oh you mean the FSF?
No. It should be a new and specific thread entitled...... "Abuse the absoulute crap out of the ****wit responsible for this abhorrent term to describe Cakewalk's flagship software." Switch off the ******* nanny and give it a week before locking it, but then make it a sticky for all eternity as a warning to what will happen to anyone who uses that term in future and then ban the originator for life. In fact, ban them from life altogether.

From my experience with sonar platinum, SPLAT is the perfect description.
