I don't like...
series on the movie channels. I'm glad I didn't watch any of the Vikings. I got the Blu-ray of the first season and couldn't stop watching it last night until me wife pulled the plug. I'll probably finish this eve. Looking forward to that... I must have been a Viking once.

I haven't seen it yet, but looks interesting.........apparently a bit addicting too :)) (I was up late last night playing video games, until the wife pulled the plug at 1 am).

Plenty of evidence of Viking settlements around these parts..place names like Torthorwald, Tinwald, The Rhinns, Kirkoswald.

My Grandmother had an extensive genealogy of both her side of the family and my Grandfathers that she shared with me back when I was in my early 30's. She pulled me aside one day and said...you should probably have a copy of this..and handed me the genealogy. When she got to one part of her family history she said...and here is where we changed our family name from.....to.... word has it we were descendant of Vikings and we thought it best to change our name. I am going to have to watch this series. I heard it was really good.

Haven't seen the Vikings, but I can understand the sentiment! I had a friend talk me into buying the first season of 24 and we ended up watching the first 15 hours (actually a lot less when you remove the commercials), then we passed out for a few hours of sleep only to finish the final 9 hours the next morning. Unfortunately for the rest of my life and trying to keep anything that approaches a "normal" schedule, I can do things like this in many other areas as well. It's not rare for me to start a good book and not be able to put it down until I'm done, play a video game for 18 hours straight, start a large jig-saw puzzle and not stop until it's done many hours later. Heck, the only reason I've survived this long is because this applies to work-related things too!

Had to be one of the worst NFL games I've seen in 20 years. Both teams deserved to lose.

I was a Viking explorer once. Bubba the Idjit, they called me.
The hat was pretty weird. Other Vikings had cool hats with horns. Mine was a beanie with two vuvuzelas. I used to hang extra socks on the ends.
I made the mistake of calling Erik the Red, Jud the Salmon. In my defense, they looked alike. As a result, I was put on reindeer waxing duty. At least, I thought I was. I wasn't really paying attention.
Anyway, while the others were off plundering villages, I pillaged their becan. Hey, I was hungry.
I got a job as the GPS on Jud's boat. I never really bothered to learn the art of navigation, so I just said, "Recalculating" a lot. We ended up discovering North America. Man, the other Vikings were upset! They thought we were heading to the Bahamas. Jud sat there, shivering in his fur Speedo, and made me get out of the boat. They took off, rowing as hard as they could.
I'm sure they'll be back soon. Until they do, I've got plenty to keep me busy. I just need to find another reindeer.

I would be proud to be descended from Vikings. I am descended mostly from Britain. From John of Gaunt (and Katherine) and from Cunedda and Madoc, but my wife is German, Irish, and Cherokee... mostly German/Irish. I learned early to agree with her. J
