I don't want to be a suck up....
.....but X3b is the bestest experience I've had with Sonar. Tonight I've been learning how to use the comp mode and got on fine. I then created a simple lead line on my guitar, edited the pitch and timing using Melodyne (I didn't tune my guitar before I recorded and when I noticed the pitches were off I checked the tuning and the error was exactly what Melodyne said it was). I then dragged the audio to a midi track and it created a spot on midi version that I then dragged to an Alchemy track and blended the guitar and the Alchemy output. Oh, and I was playing over a beat created on Addictive Drums.
Apart from a plugin crashing Sonar (the plugin's fault) a few days ago it has been as good as gold. I hope I don't curse my luck with this post but I want to thank the guys at Cakewalk for the new toys plus the behind the scenes work that must have happened as X3 is giving me a confidence with Sonar I don't think I've had before. Sweet.
Grum.

It's going well here. So much to learn and try out - HUGE. Solid so far, a few oddities, but pretty much crash free so far. Melodyne integration is amazing. Audio to MIDI s WOW. Really like the Tape Emulator. What I've tried of the Nomad stuff is all good. Comping is brilliant. It feels really solid, and the workflow enhancement is excellent. Comping plus the Melodyne integration will make vocal editing (and other instruments) a breeze. It has turned into such a great package. The whole is far greater than the sum of it's parts..

I think its perfectly fine to be a suck up as long as you don't suck when you do it.

imo, cakewalk listened to it users a little more on this version than on previous versions and for this I think the response has been overwhelming. but then again, when x2 came out I thought the first few weeks, the response was great... and I had great production sessions with x2. I hope the longevity of this success lasts a long time for users. I think users may have been unhappy about the update but when it comes down to it, we can see cakewalk was busy creating a great new version. love it !

+1 Melodyne, Audio to MIDI, Comping, Tape Emulator, EQ Flyout, Addicitve Drums. Having fun. A lot more to learn, experiment with - to get to know it really well. But, this upgrade is proving to be quite amazing!

Grum.
Can't agree more. I started years ago with Sonar 1, or whatever the first version was. I remained a Sonar user through the years with upgrades to Studio 6 Home version, then X1, X2 and now X3b. X3 is freaking incredible. Easy flow, great results....

The last track I made had to be 100% Reason due to being a Rack Extension competition entry and so I've only just started on Sonar. Consequently I haven't played with rewiring but as I only stream the main left and right outputs from Reason (rather than individual outs from other channels) I've always been happier than some others who use Sonar's rewire. I know there is a rewire track I'm working on that would crash X2 if the latency was too low - I suppose I could try that but if that crashes X3 then my good feelings will be sullied . Bottom line: too early to tell but I can guarantee there will be rewiring in the very near future. Grum.

I totally agree. All things considered, it (Producer) is a significant step up in making music creation more about music creation. THANK YOU CAKE. I am delighted.

+1 on my brief 2 hours with X3b Producer last night. Really just testing existing stuff, but did start a new project. That expanded EQ in the Pro-Channel was worth the upgrade fee all by it's own so far. My sense is that they've attended to a lot of background tweaks as well as the trumpeted new features. My only issue at the moment is that although it will 'play' existing project VSTs, they are not listing when I go to add an effect/VSTi. I'm sure they are there and I just need to locate them properly to have them show up.
Wood Studio One 3 Pro, (Sonar Platinum), Intel i7, Win10 Pro, 32Gb ram, RME Babyface Pro, Behringer X-Touch, Presonus Faderport, Akai MPK49, Arturia KeyLab25, KRK Rokit 5 monitors, and other sonic surprises.
