I figured it out... the 8.5 to X1were-getting-close-to-getting-it-right upgrade cost $179 just like all those other Cakewalk/SONAR upgrades

I'm telling myself I bought a media browser, some studio instruments, and a smart tool... and the Gate Expander is just the freebie that got tossed in for free. Just like all those other upgrades.

So... Let's get this done cause Novembers right around the corner.

Where's X2?

Yeah, but Mike you get to navigate Pro Channel in inspector view.

Yer standard X1 riff raff can't do that.  They still have to wonder what bit has disappeared off the top of the window.

Some of 'em, the smart ones, have got round it by buying a couple more monitors though.

It removes some of the suspense included with not being able to see the entire strip, but apparently this is compensated by being able to adjust the hitherto missing buttons or knobs.

Pro-Channel is kewl, apparently.  Especially and moreso if you get Expanded.

    Jon,
This old dog has learned new tricks. One of my Cakewalk buddies advised me to just not look at the ProChannel... I'm supposed to sort of pretend it isn't there.

It's been real easy since I rolled back to December 2010 on my system.

Now I get to brag about all the great stuff I got and i don't even have to deal with the hassles. I plan to buy the box version of X1cexpanded so I can put it on the display shelf with all my old versions.

    best regards,
    mike

    You could always sell it.

Oh, no I was getting confused with Propellerheads stuff there where you can pretty much get back what you paid if you didn't like it.  Partly I think because it usually works as expected.

Yup, I forgot this stuff has zero value once you take the shrink wrap off.  The only recourse you have is to whine on the forum, some people seem to frown on you for doing that though.

Yikes. You have given me a niffty idea !
I will build display shelves for  my boxes. Just like I have for my Lionel trains. And take pictures of it. Proof positive that I have tried to tough it out . . . regardless of all the half baked . err.  Anyhow, my 50's era trains run great and never crash.
