I finally pulled the trigger...

...on this spec.

Core i7 2600 P67 Rev3 (B3) SKT 1155, Sony DVD/RW , 4gb 1600Mhz DDR3, 500Gb SATAII, On-Board Vid, 1-Year RTB, Windows 7 Professional 64bit
from here.

http://www.easypc-uk.com/

£499 for the machine £110 for the OS, delivery in 10-15 days.

My trusty Dell 531 AMD 4000+ X2 which is still doing the do will now be relegated to internet and network duties so I can keep the new one free from the perils involved with putting it on-line.

If it lasts a good 3 years I'll have managed to stay within a hardware budget of under £200 pa for the last 10 years which for me has been blinding value for money.

I can't wait

    Right on Jon!
Nothing like the excitement of a new PC and having
one for the internet is just right.
    Congrats!

I connect my recording one to internet for specific program updates/installs.
After having to have a tech come to the house for repair and having to reload
the OS I now have a Ghost full backup on an external drive and update that
    when needed.

Sounds like it will change everything (again).

    Congrats.

Very cool JB. Hope there's room to expand memory down the line if need be. Let's see, Straummy goes 64bit, Bapu goes 64bit, JB goes 64bit. That's 192.7978362838735 bits, roight?

Yes I can put more RAM in it than I'll ever be able to afford, I'll have 96 bits too, I'm going to dual boot it with XP...

Janet I can't wait for my next masterpiece either, in fact any kind of piece would be nice lately. I keep trying tho...

At some stage I'll probably add more but that's almost twice of what I currently run with and a lack of grunt is currently more of an issue to me than a lack of memory.

Sorry, I've just forgotten what I was saying there.

    I have a grunt VSTi.

It grunts over 8 octaves but uses lots of CPU.
