I got it!
I'm in Overland Park Kansas for a few days with my wife. She's here for a job interview. I stopped by the local Guitar Center to see if they had any left handed guitars. The one in Des Moines Iowa only has a couple pieces of kindling in the left handed section. It was a one in a million shot, but they had the left handed Epiphone Sheraton II I've been looking for. I couldn't believe it. It was used and the guy had just brought it in last night. It even came with an Epiphone hardshell case. Guitar and case was $399. New, the guitar is $619 (for the lefty version) and the case is $125. There are some indents on the back of it from the previous owners belt buckle, but there's no scratches and the gold hardware is like new. I couldn't believe it. It was the exact guitar I had been looking for with the exact case I wanted, it's like new, and I got it for half of what I was expecting to pay. I hooked up to a new Fender Twinverb and oh man, what a sound. A stranger came up to me when he saw me looking at it and said, "You're crazy if you don't buy that." We got to talking and he was telling me he had several of them and prefer them to his Gibson 335 and got rid of it. I can't wait to get home and hook up to my Mesa Dual Rectifier Tremoverb and do some recording.

Synchronicity. You got the guitar you've been wanting, and a cool story to go with it. Nice.

The one in Des Moines Iowa only has a couple pieces of kindling in the left handed section. There ya go Bub if that wasn't put there just for you... then somebody else would have bought it. I love it when stuff like that happens. Enjoy.

Man Bub, now that is cool. Like destiny of sumpin'. I'd love to take a trip just hittin' pawn shops and such looking at guitars. I watch those two guys on the tube that travel around looking for stuff...I'm sure I haven't seen all their shows but the few I've seen I don't recall them mentioning any guitars or instruments. Look forward to hearing and maybe seeing it.

I was in the same GC last weekend when I was in KC. I didn't see a thing I would want. It was meant to be for you, timing and desire.

Middleman I was in the same GC last weekend when I was in KC. I didn't see a thing I would want. It was meant to be for you, timing and desire. That's pretty cool that we were in the same place a week apart. You are right, the guitar selection in that particular store was very weird. Odd Gibsons I had never seen before and a boat load of Gretsch's. Funny story ... There was an older lady there, I overheard her talking to the sales mankid saying she was getting back in to playing acoustic after many years. She was torn between a Martin or a Taylor. The kid was talking her in to a Taylor and it was killing me. Hmmm ... let's see, you got a blue hair in your store with more money to burn than *insert name of your chosen deity here* in one of the most affluent suburbs of the KC metro, and you're talking her out of a $2500 dollar Martin in to a $400 Taylor ... and you're commission based? Get out of my way kid and let me do this right! LOL! I would have had her walking out of there with a $10,000 Martin and had her will it to me! LOL!

Congrats on your good fortune!

Nice find Bub. As a lefty myself, I've also been on the hunt for one of those. Looking forward to the pics. If you come across another one or something similar, let me know. Also, if you ever want to part with that one, I'd be interested. Randy

Sorry I'm late with the pics ... these were taken in the hotel room in KC. The marks that look like scuffs are reflections from the flash.

Also, for some reason it looks like some of the finish is wore off the pup's but it isn't. It's just the way the pic came out with the flash on.

Hey Old55, She did very well. They called her today and asked for 3 references so it's looking good. Truth be told, I'm very upset about it. I don't want to leave my little house in the country here in IA. But apparently I have no say in it.

julibee Totally.meant.to.be. And she's real Purty. Thanks Julibee. It really was meant to be. The chances of randomly walking in to a store and a left handed one of those being there has to be off the charts. I'm going to work on a song next week with it. My wife is going to be out of town all next week and I'm going to have a lot of free time. Can't wait.
