If the specs in sig are correct you should have 8 GB of ram not just 4 to run a 64 bit OS.

Thanks for letting me know that. I am going to upgrade my memory soon anyway to 16gb so If X2 64bit is worth trying I'll do it after I upgrade the memory.

If hardware ran X1 OK I can think of little reason why it wouldn't run X2 OK.
As you already have X2 64bit I'd suggest installing it and seeing what happens. The main 64-bit related crash-type issues I've found with a few years running 64bit Sonar (8 onwards) have been bitbridge related, especially regarding 3rd party plugins, so I'd suggest using 64bit plugs as far as possible.


As for memory, see what task manager and the Windows resource monitor tell you about RAM usage while Sonar is running. I ran X1 in 64bit (under Vista) in 4GB RAM Without any problems, but I don't use RAM-hungry soft synths or samplers.

If you do use plugins that hog RAM, then RAM 64bit, with it's ability to use more RAM, is likely to be worthwhile for that reason alone.

I thought X2 would be as stable as X1 with the same hardware but that's not the case unfortuanately. As far as softsynths go I always bounce down to audio when I have the take I want so I don't have a big load on the CPU. Plugins can get hairy at times but on certain tracks I do commit and bouce the tracks with the effect(s) and archive and hide the original. I'm really surprised that X2 isn't running good because I'm a simple user. There are many features I'll never use. I mostly record audio either direct or a mic'ed instrument. Normally I use minimal plugins. I used compressors, limiters spearingly etc. so I'm surprised I'm having any issues. One thing though, should I do a clean uninstall of X2 32bit or it should be fine having them both installed? 

I think one thing that seems to make a difference is running 64bit X2 with NO 32bit VSTs. I could be wrong but I think it matters on some machines. No Bitbridge. No Jbridge. All 64bit.

OK, I did another clean uninstall of both X2 32 and 64 as per Cakewalks clean uninstall and also went further than Cakewalks clean uninstall and deleted all plugins, softsynths and everything else related to Daw recording so I had a lot to reinstall after installing X2 64. At this point after all I have tried so far if X2 gliches I'm done with it. My buddy has X2 and he wasn't having any issues then all of a sudden he's getting many of the problems I have and other here on the forum are reporting so i'm starting to beleive it's not everyones PC's causing these problems. Anyway i will report back when I have a chance to test X2 64bit. I'm only using 64bit plugins and what ever comes with X2.   I do want to report that after I installed X2 64bit and opened the program and opened a project it crashed. This happend 3 times. I almost flipped out. I am able to open them now and they are working good so far. I just don't understand these rediculas problems. My hair is falling out over this. Oh wait, that happened years ago. I hope to report good news next visit.
