I had an Oscar...

about 20 years ago. A Tiger Oscar. I got him/it at Walmart. It was about the size of a nickel when I got it. I put it in a 30Gal long aquarium. He lived I guess 8 or 10 years. I don't remember if I gave him away, I think so. He got up to about 11 inches long. He loved crickets and worms from the yard.
I had tempered plate glass on the top. He was so strong that one day he busted the glass on the top. He was a good fish.

My kind of Oscar! I think a Grouper is a saltwater Oscar.

I've had lots of aquariums and lots of fish. The worst was a Red Bellied Piranha. I had a weird experience with him and I know this sounds a bit fantastic, but it happened. I also had a rather large Firemouth in the tank (my favorite fish). I dreamed one night that the Piranha bit the face off the Firemouth. A Firemouth has a rather long face. I got up that morning and sure enough The Firemouth was just eyes, a white before a white surface with a hole in it. It REALLY freaked me out. I netted the Firemouth, gave it a quick whack on the neck to kill it and buried it. I gave the Piranha to someone in Tennessee. I'll never have another one of those nasties.
One of my favorite aquariums was totally made from a local creek, the gravel, the fish, and the plants. I had a nice Blue Spotted Sunfish, a small Bass of some kind, and some other fish I don't remember.. and some minnows. I enjoyed doing that.
I have not had an aquarium in over 15 years. I might set up another one. The next time my wife moves a piece of furniture in a place that does not get much sun, I'll put one in. I'm sure our cat will get in it, there is no doubt about that. All our dogs and cats have always been rescues and she is probably the best. She is a 7.5 pound Manx. She does not sit on us, she is very well balanced. She stays around, inside in the cold, outside killing voles and lizards in the summer. She is a sweetheart. A tuxedo.

Well, I don't know where all this came from but now you know a little more about me, not that it matters. Maybe you like aquariums too! Cichlids RULE!

I always preferred African Cichlids to Oscars or Jack Dempsey's.  Funny (and very colorful) little guys who would make these nests where you could hear them spitting out the rocks as they hit the glass.

    Hi,

Most fun at Triangle Lake ... watching the kids get coconee (have no idea how to spell their name) and they bring it in and then we eat it for breakfast with eggs and hashbrowns and bacon and sausage and becan if we have it!

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!
