I have Sonar x1 Studio and want to upgrade

Is it possible really to get Sonar x3 for $49 ? Am I getting a much better product ? Will I be paying more down the line...will I be missing anything ? It seems to good to be true ! Can anyone help me with this ?

Sonar X3 base version has a lot of things missing from it that the studio and producer versions have. You can get it for $49 though if you already have any earlier product registered.

You can see the version differences here:

    http://www.cakewalk.com/products/sonar/versions.aspx

Theres also a current offer to upgrade to X3 producer for half price, but it only works from X2 or X3 studio.

The X3 version available for $49 is the basic version. The feature set is shown here in the left hand column. In a couple of weeks the X3 demo should be available to judge for yourself if the improvements are worth the money.

You might be able to find X2 at a retailer but Cakewalk no longer sells X2. The typical upgrade path would be an upgrade to the same or larger version but I do not think you would be losing anything with the basic version of X3. All the plug-ins that came with X1 can be used in X3. You would gain the workflow improvements and ARA integration (although it does not come with Melodyne).
