I hope they fix this bug in X1C
Sigh...The never ending buggy cakewalk automation saga continues....This has been driving me crazy all day. Here's the recipe, 1 Create a track with automation 2 Create a 2nd track with automation 3 Clone one of the clips on the 2nd track 4 Magically, the automation on the FIRST track resets itself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8fWZP_xnKk And, having spent my 2nd full session with X1, I really wish Cake would implement a true automation lane, instead of having these drop down things where you have to constantly reselect the parameter you're trying to automate.

That's ugly, but it may not get fixed if you don't report it formally: http://www.cakewalk.com/support/contact/problemreport.aspx And in case you've forgotten or not yet discovered: you can change the edit filter to edit an automation envelope by Alt-clicking the envelope with the Smart tool. I'm not big fan of the Edit Filter model myself, but at least this saves going back to the drop-down every time.

Ive been getting random crashes sometimes while editing clip envelopes, usually the volume envelopes I think. Happens so out of nowhere it is hard to track my exact train of moves. Sonar crashes with no message, just poof! gone.

Sonar crashes with no message, just poof! gone. I had that with the initial release of X1, but since X1b, that hasn't happened (either running in XP32 or W7/64). I documented this here Sonar Crash Is this the same thing that you're seeing?

Stay away from bridging into the 64 bit version. It's good for the heart.

other than a jx3p emulation, everything is running quite happily under 64 bit. it's just sonar that's flaky.

It's a JP8000 emulation, and sounds huge http://www.adamszabo.com/jp6k/ I run it bitbridged and it works great in X1-64, screwy automation notwithstanding....

i'm not sure what you mean by alt-clicking the envelope. when i'm in the smart tool, holding down the alt key displays the scissor tool so i can only split the clip. Oops. My mistake. That should have been Shift-click.

That should have been Shift-click. Ah, ok, got it! In related news, I just got a message from Cake support and they aren't able to reproduce it for some reason. I'll upload my project file later today for them to figure out.

Keni I think I've figured out how to reproduce this. 1 Create a virtual synth track 2 Record some midi on this track 3 Create an automation envelope for one of the synth parameters (eg filter cutoff). 4 Create a 2nd virtual synth track, using the same synth as the first track 5 Record some midi on the 2nd track 6 Create an automation envelope for this 2nd synth for the same parameter as the first track (filter cutoff, say) 7 Ctrl-click-drag on a clip on the 2nd track and magically, the envelope on the FIRST synth track changes as well. here's a youtube of it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxmcMu3B3rI I've also added this to the Cakewalk report. Can you try this recipe and see if it does the same for you?
