Does DuPont also recommend the type of gravy to use with African Greys?  I'm thinking Turkey gravy, but I suppose a brown gravy would work too...

Me?  Bird hater?  Hardly!  I'm surrounded by birds here (I even went out last night and drank a jar or three).

I just made the best fried potatoes ever !! First I sliced up two potatoes ( I left the skins on )  and boiled them for about 5-10 minutes then I put a little olive oil in the cast iron pan and heated it up, then put the potatoes and a sliced onion into the pan, cooked the potatoes on a medium high heat for about 10-15 mintues turning often till they turned brown...add a little ketchup and salt and pepper and  boom , you're done. I swear these were the best fried potatoes I've ever had, no restaurant can compete.

Haha, lots of parrot haters (Kidding) but I don't blame people that doesn't like em' much, parrots usually hates anyone but their owners, my birds are pretty much always out of the cage wrecking havoc, but I have to put them in the cage when people are over, especially the macaw, he goes straight for the jugular. It's also funny to see him climb down to play on the floor and terrorize the dogs, they hightail it whenever they see him make a move to climb down. The grey just yells expletives at guests.

They'd also make terrible meals, you should see them after thier weekly bathtime, nothing but sinews under all that fluff, looks like drowned rats.

Also, if you ever want to record something, don't get these things

Back to pans... apart from the cast iron my favorite pans are Bourgeat, it's mostly restaurant pans, built like tanks for use all day long and can take any abuse, AND they are cheaper than high end domestic pans. Give em' a go next time you look for pans.

For the record, I like birds (along with bunnies, squirrels and other small furry animals - lol).

Update: I liked cooking with the enameled cast iron pan so much, I decided to get the matching 7 quart dutch oven to go along with it.  It's a bit expensive, but about half price of what other comparable models are selling for. So I decided to get it before they raise the price. I can use it for soups, stews, beans, spaghetti sauces, chili, roasts, and to take to parties as it is cast iron and will keep the food warm longer. Plus it will look great just sitting on my stovetop !! For a picture and more info, goto....

Well the dutch oven came yesterday and today I'm making beef barley soup. The soup tastes awesome and the dutch oven is super easy to work with, even at low heat the soup is cooking up really nice.

Cooking with cast iron is new to me, but I'm really enjoying it. The enamel finish cleans up nicely with just a quick rinse.

I just made up a batch of sloppy joe's using the 7 quart dutch oven....I used it for browning the hamburger, onions and green peppers, then added a large can of tomatoes and a can of manwich...came out excellent and I have a ton left over !! This dutch oven is cool because it's so big. It had no problem making this batch of sloppy joes up. Clean up was a breeze too.

My next project is to make up a batch of Canadian baked beans. mmmmmmmmmmmmm....

Sloppy joes are a sandwich made with ground beef, onions, green pepper, tomatoes and  a s picyy tomato sauce on a hamburger bun, it's consistancey is like a like a soupy hamburger, and little sloppy to eat, hence the name sloppy joes. The consistancy is similar to chili without the beans or chili peppers.

They are easy to make and tastes great.  Really great for parties, as you can make up a pot of it and it stretches a long way.

Very similar to chili but no beans or chili peppers. Yes it is messy but tasty to eat. It's a great way to stretch a pound of hamburger into food for a week.
