I just noticed this today
when showing a friend how to set up patch points. Create a new track, set the track input to a mono source. Does that tracks interleave change to mono? It doesn't for me or my friend. I could swear it used to. It will however record mono. Shouldn't it change to mono?

Hmmm... yes, interleave should follow input selection (and still did in 2016.3) unless forced to be different.

Can anyone confirm this issue?

Just tried this in X1 & X3 and it does not follow. Manual change is necessary. Does that make sense? Another thing.... the interleave button resides in Console View but not in Track View. Oversight?

I thought this was normal, I've been manually changing this for a long time. I record guitar parts via S/PDIF, in stereo. Often, I'll convert the tracks later, to mono. The interleave will stay in stereo after the conversion, unless I remember to switch it. Maybe it has something to do with the effects on the channel? I often have plugins already on the track.

AFAIK, if you have a stereo FX on a track, the track becomes stereo. Makes sense, but I have often been caught out by it, particularly on guitar tracks.
