I keep getting audio dropouts all of a sudden since upgrading

Every since I upgraded to the latest Sonar, I get these audio drop outs, it's like the sound mutes out for a half a second every five seconds or so. I think I checked the playback and recording in the Preferences. The driver Mode, MME32, ASIO, WDM, etc. I went through so many parameters, and I still can't figure it out..
 
But it doesn't mute out when I reload the Sonar song with audio to my other computer. But I haven't checked all the parameters yet to tally compare them, just some and still drop outs in the main computer.
 
Anyone else ever had this problem and found out what it was?

    What soundcard device are you using ?

    Windows 8.1 X64 Sonar Platinum x64
    Custom built: Asrock z97 1150 - Intel I7 4790k - 16GB corsair DDR3 1600 - PNY SSD 220GB
    Focusrite Saffire 18I8 - Mackie Control

    Not that it matters, but what version were you on before?
     
    In any case, find your AUD.INI file and move it someplace where Sonar can't see it. Restart Sonar and let it find your audio interface again. If you are using anything other than ASIO, you should re-profile your interface in Sonar. Even if you are using ASIO, it can help to switch to a different mode, reprofile, then switch back to ASIO. If it all goes south, just put your old AUD.INI back and you'll be back where you started.
     
    Another thing to check is for latency caused by your PC. Download and run LatencyMon and it will tell you if it finds any big issues.

    What soundcard device are you using ?




    I'm using Sonar V-Studio audio interface, it worked perfectly up until I did an update from an older Sonar version. I hear digital distortion when I use the MME32 or WDM drivers, and the distortion it clears up, but the audio dropouts continue when ASIO drivers.

    You know, I think you have a valid point there, because I started Sonar w/o my usual V-Studio interface, so I been operating Sonar w/o my audio interface and it may have changed and never changed back because I haven't been using the console or audio interface when using Sonar forcing it to use another or the stock audio which is incapable of handling Sonar high resolution audio.

    the vs 100 has ASIO drivers, pretty good ones actually but I believe it only goes up to Windows 8.1.
    If your using Windows 10 try using the built in WASAPI driver mode. If your using windows 8.1 or under, download the driver from Roland and reinstall it. IMPORTANT: Make absolutely certain you plug the device in to the same port you used when you installed the drivers for the vs100.

    That would be my question you running Windows 7 or which version.   IMHO these updates are all geared past 7 & 8 eventually we have to jump up to Windows 10.  Which for me will require a new computer - uuuuuggggghhhh!!!!

    AUD.INI is located in C:\Users\"YourUserName"\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum

    And this should have been the first thing you mentioned.
     
    the VS 700 has an ASIO driver for Windows 7 that you should be using.
    If you are already using that Windows 7 driver for the VS 700 then I suspect a hardware conflict, driver conflict to be the culprit. Make sure your video card is updated (even if its onboard) and look for windows updates. Sometimes MS Visual studio, C++ libs get out of date and sonar uses latest versions.

    Just a long shot , but there are demo plug ins that cause audio to drop out until authorized. 
     
    But as said, update windows, Run Latency monitor and use the ASIO drivers for sure. And best you always use the interface when running Sonar.
