I know, everything has

already been done...

but I came up with a way to hang tools and it's at least original to me.

I'll try to explain it because it's Friday and I want to have a late lunch so
the afternoon will seem to go back quicker after I wake.

I took a 6' x 3" oak board and cut at a 30° angle. Offset so I had one small
piece and one large.

The small piece I glued to another board that can be used any ol way that suits
ya but know with the large piece screwed to the wall you can latch it on.
Make sense?

If not I'll post a picture when I get home....if you're interested. Everybody interested
raise your hand.

I'm pretty sure that I've "got" the idea but pics would still be cool to see.

Doesn't a simple nail in the wall work for you?

    Nope.

No problem guys...I'll post the pics when I get home.
I guess the design will make more sense if you that
    it is the result of my needs so I'll mention those;

I wanted something other than pegboard. I hate that stuff.
I wanted a way to hold a "group" of tools so I could grab them OR just
    one.
The "group" needed to be mobile.. easily relocated on the "rack"  or
moved to another rack- I will have three workstations so relocating tools is a plus
should I need too and probably will.
It needed to be versitile. Able to handle most all tools.

It needed to be "pretty". Yes, attractive. I've worked hard on my shop
and I didn't and don't want any cheap ugly plastic junk in it.

So...I pretty much covered my guidelines for design and the pics will show the results.in about
2 and one half hours from now.

Again...it's probably not an original design. I may have seen it at one time...if so I don't recall but
I know there's a lot of junk running around in my head and this may be some of it.

Another thing....it didn't work. I'll get into that when I post the pics..lol...I'll also mention
modifications that one could make and the one I made to solve the problem. :)

    Ok...here it is.
Now I can put a holder at every workstation
and move group of tools if needed.
Still a long way to go but it's going to work.

They would slip off from weight. Tilt-unhook.

Problem solved- spin the keeper underneath.
Other solutions possibly...increase angle 45 maybe.
Longer back board (connected to shelf) with a block to
reach wall...? anyway, this worked fine and it meets all
    my needs.
Now if it helps somebody else....excellent.

Looks like the guitar shop is coming along well. I am for anything that helps me find a tool when I need it. That design works well for most any kind smaller tools.

Nice idea. Just like a cabinet hanging cleat.

Yes!  Exactly what I had in mind (except your implementation looks even better than I had imagined it).

    Good job!
