I love Audiosnap
Been working on a project..lots of audio, lots of midi/softsynths..... It was sounding a little pedestrian at 92bpm....I had to make it go faster so Edit>Select All View>Audiosnap Palette>Toggle Clips to project tempo Change project tempo to 100bpm Hit Play How good does that sound now? WOW! So damned easy - I'd never used audiosnap for this before - it sounds so much better than when you use it to make timing corrections. Love it!

I love it too. It will be nice when Audio Snap catches up to Beat Detective and what ever Cubase calls their system... both of those systems address issues that help make it easy to maintain phase alignment when working on multi tracked drum parts. best regards, mike

garrigus Did you also bounce the audio? If not, then it will sound even better after you bounce it (or export the project) because SONAR will then use the higher-quality offline processing. Yes I exported a full mix @ 16/44.1 and you could not tell that it hadn't been played at that tempo originally....and it sounded so tight i might do that more often

It will be nice when Audio Snap catches up to Beat Detective and what ever Cubase calls their system... both of those systems address issues that help make it easy to maintain phase alignment when working on multi tracked drum parts. AS has had the Merge and Lock functionality for some time to address that need. In my limited experience, it works fine, though it may not be as seamless to implement as the equivalent in Pro Tools or Cubase. If there's any catching up to be done, it might be in the areas of user interface and the quality of the stretching algorithms. But the basic capability is there.

There's a page in the online help called "Adjusting the timing of a multi-track performance while maintaining phase relationships" that gives a good primer on this.

It seems to start on page 595 of the reference manual. I'm still thinking there's some catching up to do.

When I first saw it done with Beat Detective my jaw dropped at how easy it's developers made it seem. The same could probably be said about some videos of how easy and effective Audiosnap is to use with well-prepared tracks containing the right kind of material. My guess is Cubase and Protools show more pimples when you look closer, just as SONAR does. The low audio and/or video quality and high pace of a lot of demo videos helps hide such flaws.

I had Beat Detective demonstrated to me first hand in my studio by a gentleman that has a few platinum records with his name on the producer credit. He sat down and started working on a sketch project I had laying on my hard drive. I was sort of gob smacked that I hadn't thought about how slick it can be. I don't know enough about Cubase... so I was out of line to include that. I keep telling my friend I prefer SONAR and he keeps teaching me stuff because he is enthusiastic to share what he knows about the stuff he works with. One thing that continually amazes me about AudioSnap is that I think that the render results sound great to my ear. I used to think stuff like that would never be possible. It amazes me that it is. all the best, mike

I think most things look easy when you watch an expert doing them.

That's how I feel when I watch a Tim Exile video... I just sit and smile with appreciation.
