Just to clarify ... City and State are the voter's address or the team's address? I've been using mine, but it occurred to me that maybe what they want is the Dept., City and State of the team. Hopefully my votes have not been in vain. Also, for everyone - do not hit enter until you've added the image. Otherwise, your vote gets tallied and there's no opportunity to add the image.

All the information on the form is YOUR information.... in the DEPARTMENT field, you enter NC K9ERT.... our team's name.... and be sure to upload a picture of my dog that you capture and save to your machine.... it doubles your vote.... a 2 for 1 deal.... Thanks for voting .... be sure to come back and vote every day until the end of this month.

Guitarhacker 1. Download a picture of LILLY to your computer. (right click the pic and "save image as")
2. Go to this link: http://www.aftermath.com/k9contest/
3. Fill out the form
4. In the field called "Department" enter the following: NC K9ERT
5. Upload LILLY's picture at the bottom of the form. wait for the upload to finish
6. Click on SUBMIT
7. Make a note to do this every day until Nov gets here. Lilly now as a more mature Shepard. For those too lazy to go back to page 1.
Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

> The clerks in Lowes know her name but not mine.
This reminded me back about 13-years ago shortly after we got our Wheaten Terrier 'Bailey'. We only had him for a couple weeks/months at this point and I had him with me one day in the front yard while I did some yard work. Some guy came riding by on his bike who I never saw before and yells out "Hi Bailey" and continued on his merry way. I was like.....what the??? My new canine buddy must know everyone in town and I barely know my neighbors. It was a funny incident to me at least.

BUMP.... So, I'm getting ready here to load up the pickup truck with Lilly's crate, food, towels, leashes, toys, and blankets as well as my clothes, gear, and boots. We're headed off to lower South Carolina around the Bluffton area which is close to a 5 hr ride. With stops and breaks, it will be closer, I'm thinking, to 6 hrs. We have a weekend of team training on the schedule. She gets a chance to work, searching out HR sources hidden on the 90 acres of the farm we're training on. The USMC air base canceled on us yesterday morning so our team members in that area scrambled and found an alternate and suitable location that was amiable to allowing us to use their land. Yeah.. even though our team is based in eastern central NC... about 20 miles from where I live, we have team members from SC, NC, VA and even one lady who drives down every month from NJ to join us and train with us. Our team leader has a reputation in the SAR world that is apparently, pretty impressive, for training the best dogs and handler teams for this kind of work. He tries to book training at least once a year "locally" for all the members who are not local to us here in NC. It's a fun thing to go out to train in other places. It gives the dogs some variety that's more like real world vs doing the same farm in Wendell all the time.
Keep voting and bumping this post. I leave it in capable and trustworthy hands..... see you all next week. I'll be voting from my phone while I'm gone.

OK... I'm back and wow!!! What a weekend of training. We had 18 people.... close to a dozen handlers and 17 dogs. 90 acres of farmland near Hilton Head.... the military base canceled on us just 72 hrs before we were supposed to be there but our team had a backup plan ready and everything worked out well. We had a simulated crime scene in a grove near a swamp with 6 sources. Some were close together. All were hidden from sight. She had found the first few and managed to submerge herself.... oh yes, quite literally... in the swamp in the process. I was discussing the most recent one with one of the handlers working with us. In the process, we were totally ignoring Lilly and what she was doing. At first, she was simply circling around us, but then she wandered off and out into the edge of the field a bit. I was about to recall her when the other handler working with us, and watching the dog silently, informed us that she had just found another source about 70 feet away and she was "right on it". Yeah, that was a great confidence boost and one of the handlers made the comment that this was the best he had seen her do to this point. She made quick work of the grove and found all the sources, got wet in the process and had a good time doing it all. I don't have pics of her working. But here's one of her meeting a horse for the first time.
