I need some editing help....ANSWERED!!

Hello all,

While recording (my acoustic) yesterday, I noticed that the last part of a clip was greyed out (my little 2 yr. old girl hit the keyboard and it was on the Smart Tool hovering that clip) in which that little grey part was muted on playback.

I can see the complete wave, but just can't hear that little part at the end of the clip.......and that was a good take. Unknowingly, I had saved the project after that grey part was edited in and couldn't undo it that way.

Any ideas how to un-mute that little part?

TIA,
Mesh

    Hi Bob,
No the clip isn't split....just a short audio clip with the tail end greyed out. I'll try 'k' tonight and see if it unmutes that part.....thanks!!

    Expose layers and look there?

Worst case go into the audio folder to hunt out the file.

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

When you say "grayed out", do you mean the waveform has a dotted outline? If so, that's time range muting, and you can reverse it by sweeping the top half of the clip with the mute tool to unmute it. I'm not sure how that would happen just by mashing the keyboard, but it's the only way I know of to mute part of a clip without splitting it.

    Thanks Brundlefly and gswitz.
I didn't get a chance to sit at my DAW last night, but will do so tonight.

I don't recall the audio clip having a dotted outline, but rather a greyed out area (i.e different in color than the rest of the clip) and only at the end of the clip.

The audio part of the (generic) pic below is a good example where the red line of part B is about the area that's greyed out and is also muted on playback. The clip isn't split up.......and the blue part plays just fine.  I'll try sweeping the clip and try to unmute tonight.......will post back.

Update: Yes, it was as simple as unmuting ("K") the partial clip.......lesson learned.....it pays to know your shortcut keys.

    Thanks all!!
