Click 'Utilities'. If you've got AT installed, it shows up at the bottom of that dropdown. Click on it. Window for the 8 possibilties opens. Click on each one, all assignable possibilities are waiting for you to enjoy. I love AT. Fill up 8 and save it with a name. Being able to push 1 AT button have a clip/track bounced, or the split window open up is really workflow awesome for me. The ribbon click on the ends to jump marker to marker is great, too.
I have ones for: Track Audio, Track Midi, Edit Audio, Edit Midi, Mixing, Mastering... With all the plugin parameters readily available, control of them using the flip button for fine control w/ the fader makes realtime changes very easy and accurate. I have thought more than once to buy a spare, but i have concern that as time goes by, so may support for it, especially in OS.
PS - I would love an answer from any of the fine Cakewalk masters (Seth, Andrew, Noel,...) in regard to this being implemented into an update of X2 would be awesome and much appreciated. Enjoy, Shep
Edit - Since X1 my AT has to be plugged into a USB3 port, or the device is stopped as unrecognized. Works perfectly in USB3, but YMMV.
